1. When I think of cooked food I think. . .
Cooked food: For me, food as I know it. All my life I thought food needed to be cooked in order to be eaten. Wow, was I wrong.
2. When I think of raw food I think. . .
Before trying raw I thought raw food was uncooked. As in the stage before you cook it so that you CAN eat it. I am laughing as I write this and remembering how I didn't even eat salad before I went raw. I thought salad and such was the diet of my anorexic cousin, I used to gorge myself with pasta and pizza in front of her just to show her that you can still be thin and eat REGULAR food. Plus, being such a thin person, especially in my young teenage years, I was teased a lot about my weight so I would stuff myself to try to look like everyone else.
3. If I lived exclusively on raw food I think I. . .
I think I might be incredibly happy. I wouldn't feel bogged down by the heavy cooked food. I would happily chew every fruit and vegetable, drink every juice, and live with a clean feeling inside.
4. If I lived exclusively on cooked food I think I. . .
Would be tired and cranky. I would eat too much, which always happens when I eat cooked food. I can never get satisfied and usually leave a meal feeling like a stuffed pig. That would lead to over exercising, and always to exhaustion be 3 p.m. or so. Yuck.
5. People who eat raw food are. . .
People who are aware of there body and its relationship with food. They are present. They can listen to what there body tells them after eating something and understand the relationship it has on their feelings, actions, and reactions. I admire people who make any effort to eat more raw foods, because they care about themselves, therefore they can also care about others.
6. When I eat raw food I. . .
Feel wonderful! I love preparing raw meals and recognize how clean my lifestyle is . After a raw meal I realize I am satiated, not stuff, and I can cary on with my day easily. It is a process of slowing down and enjoying what I am doing for myself, because the food is so flavorful, that I enjoy.
7. When I eat cooked food I. . .
Eat quickly. I eat too much, and I always want more. There is an instant satisfaction from the first bite, but that quickly dissipates with the second or the third. By then I have stopped tasting and am just eating. Then I feel tired and slow after.
8. If I had to choose between eating exclusively cooked food or raw food I would choose RAW because. . .
Wow, if I had to chose one over the other, and never look back or be tempted that would be a wonderful. I would say good bye to cooked food easily and never look back. Just because I lived this cooked life for so many years I know it was wrong, but it was all I knew. Now, I am choosing Raw, and I am retraining myself to always look forward. I know I will feel great, and like getting over any addiction there will be ups and downs.
9. I believe that cooked food. . .
Is a way of life that we have been living as a human culture for way too long.
10. I believe that raw food. . .
Is an honest way of feeding your body what it needs. No ifs, ands, or buts. (especially the kind of butts they put in hotdogs)
11. This is my single biggest fear about going and staying all-raw. . .
Not being able to enjoy a night out with friends the way I have known. Currently it is a struggle to enjoy evenings out on the town without temptation, options, and ridicule. It would be nice to go to a movie and be able to have some option readily available at the snack counter for me. Okay, let me stop right here. I was going to list a bunch of other gripes and groans but I just realized that I am going to make myself a new world by going raw. With new friends to add to my old ones, new places to eat, and more stimulating activities that don't always involve a snack counter. Yeah. No more fears, and no more ridicule as long as I surround myself with those that are open to people who live differently than them.
12. This would be my very worst food nightmare if I had to eat all cooked food and no raw food at all. . .
I would get thick, feel sticky and be tired, bored and sick all the time. Numb!
13. This is my most beautiful vision of myself if I went all-raw. . .
Happy, fully aware of my senses, clear, clean, fresh, relaxed, energized and free. (sounds great doesn't it)
14. This is my most depressing vision of myself if I reverted to all-cooked . . .
Well after going raw and then reverting back to cooked, I would say I am living my most depressing vision right now. I am always full, but always hungry. My skin is broken out all over, my hair is dry, and I sleep way too much. Plus, I am mentally very analytical and judgmental of those I love, probably because I am not very happy on the inside. If this realization isn't scary enough to return to raw!
15. This is the worst experience I have ever had around cooked food. . .
Wow! what a question. The first thing that comes to mind is sitting at a dumpling house with my boyfriend who was overweight then, and our friend who was and still is extremely over weight, and realizing I had probably just out eaten both of them. Then, getting in the car to drive 45 min. back home and all three of us probably went home and took a nap. How exciting of a life is that? I felt bloated, and gluttonous. I just out ate a 300 pound man, and I weigh in around 120 or less. Why did I do that? Just to show that I could.
16. This is the worst experience I ever had around raw food. . .
Oh, lord. I had just slaved diligently to make my boyfriend and I a gourmet raw meal that consisted of a lot of nut sauces and a medley of mushrooms. It tasted wonderful and we enjoyed our first two or three bites. Then as if we had one stomach, we both started to feel a bit queasy. The dish was so rich I felt like I had just drank a pink of heavy whipping cream. We stopped eating, and sat next to each other on the couch just breathing slowly and trying to not vomit. I think it was just too rich a meal for both of us.
17. This is the best experience I have ever had around cooked food. . .
Learning how to make and eating French Onion Soup. I must say, by any standards my soup is some of the best. My father learned from one of the master chefs in New York in his day and he has past down his recipe to me. This is one dish I will always have a special place in my heart for, as will everyone I have shared it with.
18. This is the best experience I have ever had around raw food. . .
After a week of being raw my boyfriend and I had more passion for each other than ever before. It was as if I had a new prowess to my nature and I never felt sexier.
19. If we could turn all the negatives you have around raw food to positives would it make all the difference?
Of course
20. Of all the negatives you listed around raw food which ones, if they were to turn to their opposite (positive), would make the biggest difference?
Having more places to go out to eat and socialize in an atmosphere of fun contemporary sophistication and raw would make being raw easier. Instead of a few places to choose from in not so convenient locations makes taking raw out of the house harder. I wish Sarma had a restaurant here in L.A.!
21. Of all the positives you listed for cooked food, which ones if you could say they were also true for raw food would make a big difference?
Well cooking and sharing recipes with my family and friends. And, this has already started to happen. Since venturing into the raw world I have inspired my family to do the same, and we now share more raw recipes than we ever did cooked.
22. If you had to give three words to sum yourself up if you went fully raw and your most beautiful vision came true, what would they be?
Wow, Boom, Bang!
