Give it to me Raw

I just started eating ANY fruit after almost a year of none. I had had a Live Blood Test done about 6 months ago that showed loads of sugar in my blood. So I stopped all sugar (carrot, beet, fruit) and before that, last summer I totally porked out at the beginning of summer gaining 10 lbs when I added fruit back into my diet after a prior stretch of none. I think this is due to having so many other foods in addition; especially fats and protein which I think are the true causes of my psoriasis. I don't expect to gain weight eating fruit only, cutting the other stuff out - we will see? I will still eat sea vegetables though; and sometimes some chia seeds in small amount. But for this week I have been strict fruitarian. I'm gonna try to go mostly that way for a month and see how my skin does with it (and weight).

So my post here is one that you all can give opinion on my fruit choices and quantities and tell me how I'm doing to keep weight down and cleanse. Am I eating too much? Too often? I've always been a HUNGRY GIRL! Maybe this is too much fruit. Before, when I ate just greens and veg and seaweed and minimal seeds I would only eat 2 small meals a day. With the fruit though I have been eating every couple of hours.
(I'm 5'2", 112 lb, do Bikram 2x week and run- hike uphill in LA canyons 3 x week for 1 1/2 hr)

I would love to see your daily intake too please! I wonder what you peeps are eating?

Me today: (all organic)
7 am - herbal tea
9am - 2 pints strawberries . 1 pint blueberries
11:30 - 3 cups red grapes
1 pm - 1/2 med-large papaya
3 pm- 1/2 med canteloupe
4 pm- 3 nectarines
5:30 - 3 Packham pears
Evening water - or tea

WELL???

Hello all!

I'm currently getting into mono meals. I only eat one type of fruit each day or for any number of days until I feel I want no more of it. Then I switch to something else.

It's winter where I am right now and there isn't much variety as far as fresh fruit goes so I've recently been on bananas (three days). Aside from the thirst, I feel really good on them. They maintain my energy levels and keep me up on all of my senses. No complaints so far. I've been averaging about fifteen to sixteen small bananas a day at about four per meal. That usually keeps me fully satisfied for a little over three hours.

Mish,

See you posted a while ago. I hope you've been experiencing success in your venture through fruitarianism.

Hello fruitarians,

I just joined Fruitarians, i love fruits since i was a little kid, my daily intake of fruits are:
6-7 big apples, 300 gr of grapes, 150 gr of strawberries,
400 gr fresh raw figs, 4-6 kiwis
a big melon :) approximately 1 kg ;),
berries 300 gr , 2-3 grapefruits , 4 pears , a few slices of pineapple, a few slices of lemon
honey combined with water and raw lemon juice, i just combine the fruits each day, i eat 5 times a day :)

Most of the time i don't need water because i have enough water from fruits, also sometimes i juice fresh raw fruits, i don't eat this everyday, sometimes i change fruits, i eat only raw fruits that are for my blood type, i have A, i don't know if anyone of you heard about The Blood Type Diet? When i need more energy i just eat honey with fruits,of course i add some raw lemon juice :), as for you mish to get reed of your psoriasis or to stay in control with it you can simply juice fresh raw fruits or vegetables, and to keep in control your blood sugar eat more grapefruits, i know they are a little bitter but they control the level of your blood sugar :), by juicing you cleanse your body, your liver, kidney and you will feel more energetically balanced, as for psoriasis i found this article for you mish ;)

Understanding Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a completely different kind of skin condition from eczema or dermatitis. It is a chronic, recurring inflammatory skin disease characterized by red patches, dry, scaly skin with distinct border between the patch and normal skin. Pain and itching usually accompany this condition.

Psoriasis is a diverse form of skin disease that may appear in a variety of forms, each with their distinct characteristics. In some sufferers, it can change from one form to another.

Symptoms of Psoriasis

Psoriasis begins most often in people aged between 10 and 40, although people in all age groups are susceptible. It usually starts with a small patch on the scalp, elbows, knees, backs or buttocks.

These patches may clear up after a few months, or may remain to grow into larger patches. Some people never have more than one or two small patches, while others may have patches covering large areas of the body. Depending on where the patches form, they may itch or hurt and cause embarrassment.

Psoriasis could be a lifelong, non-contagious skin disease. There are many forms of psoriasis. The most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white build-up of dead skin cells that look like and are called "scales".

Inverse psoriasis are mostly found under the armpits, groins, under breasts and in other skin fold areas. The lesions are very red and appear smooth and shiny, unlike plaque psoriasis.

Erythrodermic psoriasis causes the skin to become red and scaly. The lesions are like a burn, keeping the skin from serving as a protective barrier against injury and infection.

Pustular psoriasis has lesions that are large and small with pus-filled blisters (pustules) commonly forming on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Occasionally they are also scattered all over the body. Causes of Psoriasis:

Psoriasis occurs because of an abnormally high rate of skin cells growth. The reason for the rapid cell growth is thought to be a problem with the body's immune system and the toxicity in the blood.

Lesions may flare up for no apparent reason, often resulting from conditions that irritate the skin, such as from consuming or inhaling an allergen, severe sunburn, or following infections such as a flu.

When exposed to bright sunlight (during summer), some symptoms may diminish. Whereas during the cold weather (or winter), flare ups are very common. Some drugs may also cause flare ups.

A number of other factors are also thought to cause or contribute to psoriasis, including excessive stress, excess copper and keratin, incomplete protein digestion, bowel toxemia, impaired liver function, alcohol and tobacco consumption, and excessive consumption of animal fats.
Many people with psoriasis have deformed, thickened, pitted nails.

Diet/Lifestyle Suggestions

We now know that excessive toxins in our blood stream that cannot be properly filtered by a poor liver and kidney, will try to escape through the skin, causing skin disorder and disruptions like psoriasis.

Skin ailments are warning signs that the body is not getting rid of toxins as it should. Psoriasis is said to be a life-long disease, but I believe that a total change in your dietary and lifestyle may make it short-lived.

Limit the consumption of sugar, animal products, i.e. fats and dairy products as they contain a certain arachidonic acid found only in animal tissues that are especially toxic for chronic psoriasis sufferers.

Also eliminate tobacco and alcohol entirely as they can increase the absorption of toxins from the gut that stimulates psoriasis.

Studies have shown that fish oils can help prevent and relieve the symptoms of psoriasis. Increasing your intake of cold-water fish, such as salmon, mackerel, herring and halibut can significantly alleviate symptoms, particularly itching, within eight weeks. If these fish are not easily available, try taking fish oil capsules.

Cut down on omega-6 type vegetable oils, such as corn, sunflower and safflower oils and margarines and shortenings made from these products. Avoiding sources of gluten, such as wheat can also help in reducing the problem.

Learn to love the rich benefits of plant produce that are "orangest" and "greenest". A diet that is high in fiber, and high in mineral diet with lots of vegetable protein can help flush out the toxins. The orange and green juices are especially beneficial in these circumstances.

Drink lots and lots of water that will help the cleansing process. Acidophilus, as yogurt, powder, liquid or capsules help maintain a healthy intestinal terrain.

Grandma's tip: Rub a slice of potato on the skin to soothe skin itchiness.

Thank you ALL for caring and giving your time. I had a really rough result with the fruit. I just switched 3 1/2 weeks ago to very low limited fruit (oranges, apples, grapefruit). When I posted this I had gone from a long juice feast that ended in May that was hardcore greens mostly, plus lemon or a small apple in there, to high fruit diet and I went down the tubes in multiple ways (mental, emotional, physical). Ugh. Too much to describe. My physical challenges are proving to be VERY complex, not easily solved, not obvious. Psor is a b*tch. I am now investigating what may be emotional causes of psoriasis in conjunction with physical cleansing. 6 yrs RV lifestyle has not made a dent in it alone. Maybe it came up from a past life? Ill try everything!

Little bit late in the game and I'm not a fruitarian yet but I am trying my hardest. A typical day looks for me (provided I have enough fruit in my dorm, its pretty hard to get to the store when I don't have a car.

6am - 8 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice and a grapefruit (1/2)
8am - banana and a key lime
10am - another banana and a cup of grapes (red)
12pm - an orange and a dark green salad (I'm trying to break that habit)
2pm - another cup of grapes (red) and a green apple
4pm - pear
6pm - another pear and a slice of wheat bread to keep me going during night classes (another habit I need to break)
8pm - 4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice and a couple slices of cantaloupe
10pm - 32 oz ice water and a green apple
12am - a banana and a pear to keep me going.
I don't eat between 12am and 6am because it isn't healthy but I don't usually sleep.
I usually get between 12 and 18 hours of sleep a week while the normal person gets at least 42. Yeah well I am at a 4-year state university (NIU) and I take 18 credits (3 high stress art courses and 3 medium stress courses) a semester and I work 40+ hours a week. So there is no time for sleep.
But thats another habit I need to break. I know I'm being terrible to my body and I need to cut down on my courseload or something--I just... I just want to get out of college soon... I have almost 109 credits but not all of them transferred when I came to this school from my last one. been in college 4 years. ugh.

Your amount of fruit sounds great. I would just listen to your body. if you're hungry, eat. If you're not hungry, don't eat!
wish we had nectarines here in non summer time. :(
