Give it to me Raw

Quoting Steve Pavlina:
"Some people have told me that it would be very difficult to eat raw in certain places, such as in parts of Eastern Europe during the winter."

I agree. I got a box o' veggies (seasonal) and I couldn't name most of the veggies, nor eat them. They are mostly roots. With this climate, no wonder there are little fruits and leafy veggies (appart from Grünkohl, which is not very nice).

I used to eat raw fish (salmon, -sushi style-) but that won't work here either. Fish is hard to get by.

What are tricks from long-time raw people here?
THanks

I thought Grünkohl was the same thing as kale. I've heard it's best put into a smoothie with banana and orange.

Hi Levke,
The box was kind of standard, I don't remember having to fill Kockgemüse anywhere. I don't think I'll do the box anymore.

By the way, I found a great vegan sunday brunch on a community house in Wedding. For 2 eur you can eat as much as you want. Some raw food there, and the cooked food is very well done. They have lots of tropical fruits too.

The address is Scherer str 8. You need to find a grafitti that says 'the longest email address in the world'. That door is it.

What is nice in the winter time is raw creamy soups. You can use spices like ginger, cinnamon and chilli/cayenne to keep you warm.
If you have a bit more money to spend than 2 Euros, you can also come to one of my dinners/brunches :-)

Hi Jose!

For example... I make smoothies with spinach - which you can buy all year round at bio-stores.
Then sometimes I order tropical fruits at www.orkos.com, eat more of the heavier grounding stuff like nuts and avocado.
Then I start my sprouting-operation again in the winter...

My favorite still and always is a good green salad with all kinds of roots and soaked sunflower-seeds.

Hope that helps :)
Alexander

Hi family. I've been eating 100% raw for the past 40 days. Before that, I was about 70% raw for a few years, and I struggled with bulimia (purging the cooked food that I ate). No purging, no cooked food for 40 days. My cheeks are slightly puffy ...

im confused. matt monarch swears by regular colonic hydrotherapy. its his no.1 raw tip, didn't think it could be dangerous but now it kind of makes sense. enemas seem much more natural in comparison.

I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....

The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.
