in vitro meat

this piece of news has been on my mind quite a lot and i'm really excited to hear what you think about it. in a nutshell, PETA have offered $1 mln to the first person who develops in vitro meat. in their mind, it will diminish the suffering of animals who would have been otherwise destined to slaughter and will let meat-lovers to have their meat without having to kill animals.

sounds idyllic, doesn't it? have the cake AND eat the cake... but don't you think that PETA are simply missing the point(s)?
- one, meat, whether from a living animal or a test tube, is not the optimal food for humans.
- two, there are way cheaper and simpler ways to cure environmental issues (and world hunger, for that matter) than spending millions/billions on this kind of research and on manufacturing in vitro meat (i assume it wouldn't be exactly dirt cheap!)
- three, would in vitro meat really improve the welfare of animals?
- four...(fill in your own)

i think it's safe to say that they're doing more harm to veganism and animal rights than the meat industry! it just makes a fool out of everyone who opposes animal cruelty and restrains from animal products.
