I am a vegan and Im trying to heal my adrenal fatigue naturally. I was wondering if you can be a vegan and heal adrenal fatigue? I take a lot of supplements like a food based multivitamin, magnesium, herbs, omega 3's, b12, sea salt, iodine. probiotics. Ive heard its good to eat a lot of protein when you have adrenal fatigue. I was wondering if any other vegans have adrenal fatigue and over came it?
I also have auto immune hypothyroidism.

you can get a wealth of protein from eating a large amounts of greens daily.

a lot of people i know use maca root for adrenal fatigue, but i personally have noticed an increase in my health since stepping away from the heavily marketed superfoods & eating more simply with super fruits & veggies.
my hypothyroidism is not auto-immune, so a bit different, but i have healed it with seaweed, coconut oil & raw foods.

you may also want to read up on how aminos give your body what it needs to create protein & why meat protein is not a great source for your body to get the other side of the story. a search on here might turn up some great links on that issue. i try to keep myself out of debating it and just read as many different views on everything as possible to find what suits me. best of luck!

I am in the same game as you- adrenal fatigue and autoimmune thryroid disease. I became raw 4 months ago and immediately felt better. I have been using maca and coconut oil as well as kelp. The last time I went to the doctor, my thyroid dropped and he lowered my meds a little, (I now take 90 mg of Armour and 125 mcg of Synthroid). Right now though, I am feeling extremely tired, and I can't fall asleep at night - which tells me my cortisol is all off again. I had been eating some raw cacoa, and have now stopped. I think also too much fruit played a role in throwing me off - blood sugar is so closely related to all this. Now I am focusing on green drinks and seeds. I am still eating fruit, but not as much. Last night I even had a small amount of chicken hoping it might get me back on track. I started (yesterday) a higher b12 combo dose, cordreceps mushrooms, siberian gensing and licorice. Licorice is great to boost the aredrenals during the day. Believe it or not, my doctor recommended it a couple of years ago and it worked. I also bought valerian / GABA / Melatonin to sleep, which did not work at all. I have been on Ambien and Xanax for years to sleep, and cannot get off of them yet. I was hoping the herbals would work enough to help me wean off of them, but last night, at 10 I took, my Ambien and Xanax, 1 Benedryl, 3 Melatonin, 6 True Calm, and I wasn't asleep until 1:30.
This sucks. I'm not stressed out or anything. My mind is clear and I feel happy. I just can't sleep. I had the saliva test for cortisol a year or so ago and they said my levels were highest at midnite. Sometimes I think I should just stay up all night and sleep all day and stop fighting it, but my soul wants to be up by dawn (which never happens) so I keep working towards it. I strongly believe that the environment we live in causes all this stuff. I live in The Houston area where the ground, air, water are saturated with petrochemicals. We are currently trying to move to Northern CA, to the redwoods area to get away from pollutions of all kinds. I will keep in touch and let you know if my new regime is working. I wish you the best. Fear is the #1 destroyer of the adrenals... What are you afraid of? Are you willing to look at it? Do you believe that this is a supportive universe? Cultivate faith in your life as much as possible! Relax deeply at every opportunity! Shun ALL stimulants for the time being. And this is the most important for all of us we must stop labeling sensations in the body as disease! It will be very hard to get well we we say things like "my hypothyroidism or my adrenal fatigue" when we say that type of thing we only make it more real. Perhaps "the

Ya it sure isnt easy. I feel like im on the right track and I do need to learn to relax, I think I just need to get out more and do things, that always helps my worrying a little. I worry about the future a lot and I get depressed because of the things I have to deal with. I need to take a deep breath and relax, lol.

sorry that you struggle with yourself. I do to. Do you tend to get numb from worry and then just do nothing??? do you isolate? are you feeling lonely?? Erin kindly pointed out these things to me...!!

I see you are a runner...I am so jealous, I loved it.....I have stopped....lazy. Was just wondering..with your adrenal fatigue ...is running not like wipping an old tired donkey. My english is not to good.

Thanks for the hug :). Ya I do isolate myself and I feel lonely a lot but Im trying to change that this year/summer. Have you seen the movie Yes Man with Jim Carey? Im trying to be more like him in the movie,lol. Ive been running off and on since 2005. I ran in highschool too and played basketball. Im not running right now because my adrenal fatigue, just taking long walks, relaxing and hanging out with my 2 dogs.

Hi agree with Erin, everything she suggested is very similiar to wha ti have found. I am also seeing an accupuncturist and realize that we actually need cooked foods in our diet to support the spleen. Healing with whole foods is a great start..
