Give it to me Raw

Hi,
I know it is best for me to avoid wheat at all costs, but I ended up making the vital mistake of ingesting some today & ended up having a weird depressive panic-like attack. Basically, it felt for a moment like the awful depression issues I haven't had in years were coming back & I felt very full of fear for about an hour, as if darkness was about to take over my body, and not in the same way sadness or fear of a spiritual truth/release is. This was something I often experienced years ago, but since treating hypothyroidism with love, herbs, raw foods & exercise, it has been gone until today. It was totally bizarre & freaked me out. I am just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced something like this from wheat? Also, I know it takes about 30 days for the traces of wheat to leave your body, but was wondering if there is any way to speed up the process or anything I can eat to counteract the weird depressive panic-attack if this ever happens again?

hi, i have had experiences like that in the past with wheat.
my son (17) has a wheat issue too. When he was little and ate wheat, he would bang his head on the floor.
You definitely need to stay away from it (as you know), but to quickly cleanse and get your head straight, I would do a green drink fast for a day to re-alkalize your system and pull the poisons out. Also, green leafy vegetables create a calming affect on the mind. i just did an experiment with soaked oat groats, hoping i could digest it, and I woke up the next day with my ear plugged full of wax, so I guess I need to stay away from that. I don't eat any grains, because of allergies and blood sugar. I think for some of us, we just need to let it go.
I had panic attacks for years before I realized the wheat was causing it. I couldn't leave my house without Xanax in my purse because if it came on when I was out, I wouldn't be able to get home. now, i am completely calm and haven't had any anxiety/ depression, or whatever in over a year. THANK GOD! If I crave bread, I make it with leftover (frozen) coconut/ cashew pulp from my milk that I make, onions and celery, and I dehydrate it. It tastes great. Just remember that the depression/ anxiety is not real, it is the chemicals reacting in your brain to poison. You are a beautiful, creative, joyful person, and you are on the right track.

thanks for sharing, cheryl! i woke up feeling better, but had green juices & smoothies with chlorella all day to help re-balance, so reading your message now reinforced the need to stay green & follow my instincts.

i seem ok when i do buckwheat groats or quinoa, but i keep that to a minimum, cuz while it doesn't feel bad, i just feel my best on fruits & veggies straight up, and shouldn't everyone feel their best? so i might follow your lead and let those go all the way too.

rawvolution's onion bread recipe is amazing, if you are looking for another substitute. so good!

and yes, definitely the brain chemicals. i was bugging out last night and was like wtf? I haven't felt like that in over a year so it just felt familiar yet removed. i am so thankful i no longer feel like that all the time. i feel you on that gratitude. having to leave the house with xanax sounds like it must have been rough. but i appreciate you sharing about that - it's comforting to know what other people experience.

I listened to an interesting radio program on Dr. Oz's XM radio program and several guests named ashwagandha as the "Number 1" herb for calming effects.

Here's a great article by Dr. Mercola about the benefits of conscious breathing:

You're suppose to be able to pick the leaf out of the middle - and it comes out realllllllll easy - if it's ripe. It should smell ripe too.

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
