Give it to me Raw

Hi Everybody!

I had a brief (month long) period in November that I did 80/10/10 and than I got off of it with the holidays. I'm back on and excited and I would just like to hear other people's success stories ....whether it's weight loss, health rejuvination, emotional changes, etc. I really believe in this way of eating raw but I also hear so many people give negative views on it-which I find hard to believe! Please help and shower me with happy love of the 811 :)

i am actually surprised you had the desire to stop eating this way even in the customs surrounding the holidays, because i have been following this way of nutrition for almost five months now and have never been happier with what i am eating or how i am feeling.. in all my searching for the optimal nutrition and health plan for myself over the past few years i finally feel like i have found what i have been looking for.. everything is so incredibly simple and enjoyable.. another incredible aspect of eating this close to nature is that it has, without a conscious effort, put me much more in touch with my body, nature, and other people and creatures..

it's funny that when you hear success stories and testimonials like this from an outsider's perspective, they usually sound over-glamorized and exaggerated.. now that i'm doing it and see and feel the results it's really incredible

if you don't haven't read the book i definitely suggest that you do.. it gives you the motivation to follow this lifestyle with enthusiasm and all the reasoning behind it to do it right.. also, if you're still under the mainstream thinking about the 'proper' ways to eat fruit (i.e. 1 or 2 apples), try you're best to change your thinking to make sure you get enough calories.. you'll come to be eating what most would consider to be an incredible amount of fruit, but if you're anything like me you will learn to absolutely love it

if you have any questions feel free to reach out.. i wish you happiness and health

Thanks Ryan! Yes, I have the book and am trying to follow the meal plans as it's layed out for now until I get more in tune with my body. I know what you mean about what people think about me eating a lot of fruit...it's so funny-my coworkers are like "you ate an entire melon for breakfast!" It's entertaining but I do feel wonderful eating this way. I woudn't say that I had the desire to stop eating this way..I just didn't plan well enough for the social situations and things--now I know better! What sort of changes did you feel from "standard just raw" to this?

I can't say enough good things about this way of eating and the lifestyle in general. I went from 160lbs to 130lbs, my skin cleared up, I have more energy and a more positive attitude. Plus my bad temper went away. Everyone who isn't into it or does not know anything about it always says I'm "too extreme". It's funny after being 811 for a while you start to look at other people on the SAD diet that way... too extreme. I could never see life any other way now and have learned how to always be prepared in social situations... with back-up food and comments from others. This way of life has become "normal" to me I don't even think about it most the time unless I have to eat around SAD people.

Hey Renee,

I am reading Douglas Graham's book right now and it is like a real relief to me. I live in Bulgaria and I had to wait for it to arrive to me for a month. In the meantime, I intuitively oriented myself towards that regime but I wasn't sure if I were on the right path. The book cleared away all my doubts and misinformations. I have been raw for almost a year now. At the beginnig of course it was about eating as much as I want, as long as it is not cooked. And I felt good, but then it became more and more difficult and I didn't undersand what was going on with me. Was it my mind doing tricks on my body or vice versa? At some point I tried going back to cooked foods in the desperate need to fix my disturbed state (I guess mainly hormonal imbalance that triggered physical and emotional discomforts). As you can easily imagine, that only made matter worse and I knew going back was not the answer. Then I realized there is more depth to the raw diet. In fact there are so many more layers and the right proportions is only the base. From there there is food combining right timing, right quantity, conscious eating... if we go further - exercise, sunshine... I mean - it is more about the BALANCE, finding the middle point to which all the above circumstances converge and staying in that NO TIME point. In any case, the 80/10/10 is what I believe is closeset to our natural nutritious design.
Sometimes I realize how far from Nature we have drifted in our lifestyle (not evolutionwise, of course) and then it is a challenge to not only balance all the aspects of this diet but also aaaallll the other circumstances in life and to create one big harmonious picture in which you fit with no effort.
This I believe is our true journey now. But we will make it and we will survive and live happily ever after!

Be well!
Greetings from Bulgaria, ready to enter into Spring on the exhale, :)
Mona

My wife and I have been doing 811 for a little over four months now, with great results.
Here's a portion of a recent blog post I put up:
The benefits have included: increased energy, more mental clarity, improved musical performances, increased desire to exercise, calmer and deeper meditations.
As a professional free-lance musician, I've had some of my best performances since starting 811. This is a big deal, since it's a tough business, and you're only as good as your last performance. That said, there's still plenty of room for improvement, which is what I'm focusing on now.
Also, our spiritual life has improved, which is also extremely important for dealing with this crazy world.

Sorry sometimes I write something and don't write it out clearly. Not so much transitioning to something, but something that comes and goes, very transitory. Like a snow ball comes and melts and thats the end of the story. People don't cry when a ...
