Give it to me Raw

Lately I have seen an increase in negativity and hostility in the raw food community and I’m concerned. I have always told my non-raw friend how much I enjoyed working with the people in the raw community because of all the positive and accepting people. Through my experience I have meet and became friends with some wonderful people. However, lately it seems like everyday I am hearing or seeing things that are completely untrue and negative being posted or e-mailed to our office about Excalibur coming from raw foodies. At first I just attributed it to people who have a motive to sell their product by trying to tarnish Excalibur’s good name. It’s sad that they feel the only way to sell a competing product is to spread miss information, but something has just gone too far. Yesterday I was informed about a post on this site which stated that the owner of Excalibur Roger Orton gave 50,000 to prop 8- the marriage is between a man and a woman-- ban on gay marriage issue for those of you who don’t know what Prop 8 is about-- this was completely un true as I am the owner of Excalibur- What is concerning is how fast people just believe what they hear, without checking the facts. There was no reason for the post as this issue has nothing to do with dehydration it was just an attempt to be negative and spread false information? What is the motivation? People posted they wished they never bought an Excalibur and we have received hate e-mail all by people saying all sorts of nasty and hateful stuff , these people 1) don’t know the facts and don’t care to ask 2) want tolerance but are not tolerant themselves. Excalibur has done more for dehydration in the raw food community than any other company; we support many teachers and donate a large portion of our profits to our global humanitarian efforts. We do not discriminate against ANY lifestyle and approach business as a vehicle to help others... So I am perplexed?

It is not just negativity towards Excalibur; I am also seeing this towards other really good people in the raw community and over other issues as well. -What is going on?? Is it the economy that has everyone in an uproar so they are looking for someone or something to take their hostilities out on? When times are tough we need to support each other, not tear each other apart and feed into negativity. Anyone have some insight for me?

Hi Shauna,

All the negativity keeps me in the safe surroundings of the raw humour group these days..I rarely venture out.

Anyone who is truly happy on their "raw food diet" what ever approach they are following, should be happy. The people who are unhappy and are constantly looking for conflict and justifying their diet etc, are the ones that are internally not happy at some level, either physically or emotionally or both, even if they say they are. Some one who is truly happy simply wouldn't be entering into those pointless negative discussions in the first place.

Its part of the reason I started the whole A.C.E. approach to raw food.

What's A.C.E.?

A.C.E. stands for Accepting Conscious Eater. I have started a group called ACE for those interested in knowing more ;-)

mmm, yeah, this makes sense to me too... in my experience, i'm alot happier now than when i was eating cooked. i was cooked veg eating but going raw has made a significant difference in my overall stress level... i feel everything more it seems... but am generally happier, if that makes sense. i had ONE day out of the past five weeks that i got overwhelmed and felt stressed... allll of the other days i've felt peaceful and truly internally joyous and happy. it's so cool! try to rise above their nonsense?? sorry that you're experiencing this negativity. and that your business is being affected. all things pass with time.

totally off topic - *i'm laughing with myself b'c i just typed in that i ate cooked vag... luckily i caught it. sorry, i know i know, my warped sense of humor. :P

Funny, but seriously though, when I try to go 100% raw in the last year, each time after my 2 juice fasts, I just feel really irritable and edgy and jumpy and what is the word, see I've lost my memory now........anyway, its not a good, relaxed feeling, its more like grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........

Would someone help me? Does anyone know what I could add or subtract that would help me feel better doing all raw? Maybe I didn't make it long enough after the fast either, because I"m supposed to add fat back slowy, and maybe its the fat i needed to let soak in, and I would have felt better.

Do I have to describe my diet? When I do raw after a juice fast is salads, fruit, then adding avocados, olive oil, later nuts, though I usually don't get that many days into it...flax seeds, chia, other seeds, nut mylk, grawnola, not a lot of nutty sweet gourmet foods. Maybe I don't get enough calories, but I don't want to go on that "sweet juicy fruit diet"...........

? any ideas? Don't want to hijack this post.........well, maybe I do.

I guess it's all subjective really. I'm sure that your recent experiences are not an overall reflection of the majority of people's mind-sets.

However, as winter approaches I'm finding it really hard to stay raw! Maybe they're venting! :S

The raw food path does have its phases. Many of the people who are constantly "venting" in my experience have just passed through the raw honeymoon phase and have just hit the first "raw food wall"...they then begin to feel frustrated and internally angry and externally very defensive and unhappy at all those who are at peace eating what they fancy when they like.

I am only ten years down the line and am the first one to say that I dont know all the answers.....I feel for people who are following others who have only just got going themselves are are sounding like they know all the answers just because raw seems to be working for them right now.

After a few UK winters you might question certain philosophies written by people basking in the sunshine yourself ;-)

I agree with you Pete. I find it disheartening when a young person, who is so impressionable, blindly follows someone who states that they know all the answers. My heart just goes out to them and I want to warn them and say "NO don't do it, find what works for you".

People definitely need to be informed, about issues, but to trash others while doing so is just unethical.

I have been raw for 4 years now and I read about raw and nutrition all the time. I will never know it all and my diet will always be changing. I eat what I want, when I want and it works for me.

As for the original post: I have a 5 tray Excalibur and plan on buying a 9 tray at the beginning of the year. Those who blindly believe what one person states on this site is an uniformed individual. You need to do your own research and find out the truth about some of these statements. To trash one company because you want to sell another company's product shows me the character of the individual doing it. So, Shauna, thanks for bringing out this information to contradict the other discussion. It was blatantly apparent to me why the other post was written, but to others who are more impressionable, what can I say.

Wow..Pete, that's one of the best posts I've ever read here! Yep!
That's what I was missing ; the name : raw honeymoon!

And I am totally with : After a few UK winters you might question certain philosophies written by people basking in the sunshine yourself ;-) ".
I grew up in Poland, now I leave in Wisconsin.
Without miso soups or other warm things or some small sins I would not be to open and happy .

this may be true but how do you know what this is and comprehend it? Is it the christian god of the new testament and why is it not Allah, Ramses or the god of another faith? What I really dislike is the assumed correctness and self righteousness ...
