Why I feel the Law Of Attraction is a load of B.S. -- my response

There is no arguing with the with the psychology of The Law Of Attraction. In fact, that's exactly what it is: psychology, specifically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Don't know what that is? Here's how one website describes it:

Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events. The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel / act better even if the situation does not change.

source: http://www.nacbt.org/whatiscbt.htm

Sounds an awful lot like the law of attraction, doesn't it? Obviously, there is nothing wrong with this notion. It's like when you're trying to do something and your inner fears hold you back, that voice in your head telling you that it can't be done... but you ignore it and persevere. You think positively and you accomplish your goal. That's awesome.

But there are other aspects to the law of attraction, the idea that we're responsible for all of the bad things in our lives. A friend of a friend of mine was once gang-raped by five guys. She's now living with herpes. According to this ridiculous notion of the law of attraction, she was responsible for attracting that. In fact, that would be true of everything that's ever happened in history, whether it was massive tsunami a few years ago, the Holocaust, the Slave Trade, the Holodomor, Hiroshima, Dresden, children getting raped, honor killings, the fact that 46,000 people starve to death every day... you could go on and on down the line.

Here are extremely bloody, gruesome, and horrifically graphic pictures of victims of America's war in Iraq. http://mindprod.com/politics/iraqwarpix.html#IRAQWARPIX Those who believe in the law of attraction would no doubt say they attracted these atrocities unto themselves, and yet I don't expect anyone who believes in the law of attraction to actually click on that link, because one can only be concerned only with positive feelings and happy vibrations, and seeing reminders of what is actually going on in this world would no doubt bring them down. What a bummer.

I know what the argument is: that our thoughts are energy. EVERYTHING is energy. That's all well and good, but what exactly does that mean? This is where quantum physics comes into play, since the entire universe and everything in it is made up of sub-atomic particles. Here's the problem: if you're going to use science to justify your claims, you have to be prepared to use all of science and not just cherry-pick things to fit into your argument. I tried to look up if there was any proof that our thoughts could do anything outside of our brains and found about the inverse square law. This states that "the intensity of an energy wave radiating from a source is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from that source." In other words, if there were two people standing near me and one was twice as far from me as the other person, the person who is farthest would only feel 1/4th of the energy that I'm transmitting, which isn't very much to begin with as this energy is affected by all magnetic fields, including the Earth's, which overpowers it by ten orders of magnitude.

This is why I don't believe in the law of attraction. This is why I feel it does a disservice to have the "raw food movement" associated with this New Age nonsense. There's simply no scientific validity to it and it blames the victim for their problems. What we think has a lot to do with how our life turns out, but sometimes "shit happens." That's just a sad fact of life.

Hundred of ufo sightings all over the world. Tons of people who have stories, implant removal doctors who take out implants.
FAA hours of radio clips, of pilots seeing them, astronauts who have seen them and say they have publically, military people, cops, PhDs...all come forward. Dan Akroyd had a ufo incident.

There are some videos but its so hard to tell everyone makes fakes. Here is a good website, check it out. I like the second video.

http://alien-ufo-research.com/alien_videos/

Also the ufo sightings you can go to, it's hundreds, hours and hours footage of UFO's caught on video.
The Mexican Government released a mass ufo sighting video all over the world and the USA totally dismissed it.

There are other humans in the universe besides us. For sure.

But if you are going to straight out deny it, don't bother..just give it a chance...you might find something that really rings true for you. But you have to sift thru a lot of crap.

A guy wrote a book about his abduction. It's pretty detailed.

Entertain the idea for a little bit.

Lots of people claimed to have seen Bigfoot too.

We can snap pictures of of celebrities walking around topless on secluded beaches but no one can provide a clear picture of a UFO, even though damn near every cell phone has a camera?

There are tons of them, I sat thru hours on that website. Check it out, very clear.

The UFO pictures section.

What about mass sightings? Tons of them all over the world. Even in NEW YORK. Mass people seeing them.

Radio shows...books, doctors, there are some specifically that take out alien implants out of people.

In L.A. military shot at them for hours and there was lights on them, you know those big lights they shine in the sky?? and tons of pictures. Tons of people.

I have not seen one. But there alot of things I have not seen first hand

Big foot could be real. We just don't know. I think there have been genetic manipulation in the times of Atlantis.

If so, they just want to be left alone.

I think it is very exciting, and amazing.

So true about belief...it's a very powerful thing. and also about whether the law of attraction really exists...or anything 'existing' for that matter. ancient yogic philosophy says the whole planet, and all the physical material in it, is but a 'thought form'...so what really does exist truly? just because something is labeled as being this or that doesn't mean we're not only seeing a fraction of what the true picture is, and maybe even getting an erroneous viewpoint at that when viewed from a more inclusive viewpoint...

but without taking that point to where my mind might explode......i believe this; there are definite patterns and principles at work in the world. hell, i put myself through a couple years of college by being able to shoot a basketball through a hoop with a good degree of accuracy...did my belief that i was going to make a shot when i was taking a shot affect the outcome? absolutely for the better. did i make every single shot? hell no. that for me proves the principle of attraction. i tended to get more of what i was looking to get. did it mean that when i got injured playing the game that the law of attraction was at work there? maybe...i wasn't thinking that i wanted that, but guess what...a lot of people get injured playing basketball, so just by playing the game, no matter what my thoughts were, i was putting myself in the arena where people tend to get really beat up so i tended to 'attract' that possibility.

so for me, in trying to keep it simple the law of attraction is just about resonance and tending to get more of what i'm looking to get from experience/situation etc. so it's faith based...but more experience based utltimately. but whatever you know?

i mean ultimately would there be a gitmr without the law of attraction?

Bunny, belief should lead to knowledge, otherwise we are left in the dark...

I know it is true, because I have experienced it - in action.( except - only if your worthy)

This is the crucial difference between belief and knowledge, one is in the mind the other is living experience.

As a Baptist do you believe in Christ or do you know Christ ??

The lord showed us how to pray - the lords prayer...
this harmonises us with our father and attracts to us everything we need, but maybe not what we want !

blessed

If it seems too good to be true, it is :)

From my experience it seems that our internal world has some effect to our external world. However some people simplified it to a bumper sticker. I doubt it is their reality. Reality usually runs them over on the daily basis. They only romanticized the idea and call it Law of Attraction.

We might not have control over what happens in our life but we definitely have control over how we react to it :)

It's very possible. 15+ years in the game, and you learn a lot, like how to reach your audience. You think he'll let me see his home in Hawaii?

I've met some hit chix on GITMR. Not satisfying in the least. Just the opposite. Most communication is self-defeating, accomplishes nothing. I would love it if people would leave me alone when I'm out and about. Anybody else?
