Give it to me Raw

Will T Roundy

Which leaders in the raw movement do you connect with? Wolfe, Monarch, Patenaude, .......?

These are the people that I tend to connect with. Although they have conflicting info at times when it comes to the details they are all focused on a similar outcome. To get great information to us in way that we can understand and use on a daily basis.
Matt Monarch, David Wolfe, Fredrick Patenaude, Tim VanOrden, Keving Gianni, Dr. David Jubb, Gabriel Cousens, Victoria Boutenko, Doug Graham........ I realize there are many others but these guys seem to be the ones really getting the word out about raw foods. It would be great to see who else is out there that people look to for the most current and worthwhile information having to do with this movement.

I grew up reading his books and at the time it never dawned on me that he was raw (because I didn't know what "raw" was!)
I forgot to mention that I also like Tonya Zavasta- she is gorgeous (I've met her in person a few times) and she's inspiring and passionate.

I live in Arizona and we have two tribes here, the Tohono O'odham and Pima Indians. They were extremely healthy with long lives until the 1930's. They were forced to abandon their traditional way to eating. Now the Pima have the highest incidence of diabetes in the WORLD, the other tribe isn't too far behind. When they go back to their traditional way of eating, before the Spanish explorers came, their diabetes come under control. I have great respect for the wisdom of their traditional diet and in some ways is really similar to raw foods.

So I try to understand where the leaders of the current raw food movement are coming from and then I try to align it with the old diets. I have videos on these tribes on my youtube page under my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/user/bjay100 I also talk a little on my blog and will post more on it: http://www.bjaysblog.blogspot.com

I am longtime fan of Patenaude and I love the Taliferos. These people are great! However, I discovered raw at a Boutenko workshop in Toronto many years ago. I like them as well. I liked Shazzie's blog but I don't follow her philosophy too much. I have now added Doug Graham to my list. I have an innocent, don't-want-to-have-materialized-in-real-life crush on Richard Blackman and Tim VanOrden (hahaha). In the natural health (not just raw) movement, I like Brigitte Mars.

If you're looking for some great info contact Lucky Luke on this site. He seems to have it figured out. He's been at this for years now.

I think the question was about who do you CONNECT WITH.. they weren't asking "who do you blindly follow". People here are a bit too negative/worried about being seen as someone who "follows" a "guru" like they're a sheep following a cult leader. Cmon folks, we've all been inspired by those spreading the word about the raw movement and there is nothing wrong with taking advice, learning from and being inspired by someone who has had a similar journey.

I learn something from everyone I've met or watched videos/read books from in the raw movement. I really love what people on Give It To Me Raw and other communities have to say.. I find those who are active in this community very helpful and I connect with many of them. For example, Philip McClusky has some great stuff to say in his videos and blogs.. just a down to earth regular guy talking about his personal experience with raw weight loss.. very positive. I like Alissa Cohen as well.. because she is from my area and is doing a lot for the raw community in my state and that is great!

I've only been into the raw world for a year, so I still have a lot to learn and will be reading a lot more in the future so hopefully I'll connect more with those that can teach me about their journey as well. For now, I'm connecting with most of the people here at GI2MR

Alissa Cohen.

I like how "normal" she is, not to mention healthy and beautiful. What I like about her approach is that it leaves people room to gravitate towards what their body intuitively needs.
