What was the first thing you saw improve on a raw diet?

For me, it wasn't weight loss (alas). It was that my skin suddenly cleared up. Note that I have had cystic acne for years. And years. And years. It stubbornly resisted treatment of any kind. I got used to people (sometimes strangers) coming up to me and telling me their BIG SECRET for how to clean my skin. 9 times out of 10 it was something I'd already tried (and one out of ten it was something truly bizarre).

Now people grab me by the face (which can be a little uncomfortable) and go "WHAT HAPPENED???"

I still get the occasional blemish, but trust me, I'll take the rare spot over the sea of little cysts that used to sprinkle all over my chin, cheeks, and forehead...

At first on raw gourmet (coming from a very cooked meat diet) I had an improvement in my digestion but after a while it declined again so I asked for a better way and lowfat high fruit way landed - my first raw picnic a girl there was eating just mangoes & lots of them.....I questioned her, liked what I heard, researched, ticked off all my boxes, gave it a whirl & have never looked back.....
That question required a two-part answer because there are many ways to do a raw diet.

Soooo the first thing I saw improve? Intestinal bloating/indigestion ceased, candida population under control & I could finally eat fruit without any bloating because I was combining properly & eating lowfat, the more I upped my fruit the better I felt.
After that would have to be my skin, I used to have acne on my face & shoulder, hated looking in the mirror & now I regularly have people say 'Free you have the best skin'! Which can be hard for me to believe after having 'bad' skin for so long ...'What's your skincare routine???' -My skincare routine is eating in a way that allows my bodymind enough energy to function optimally therefore produces less toxic waste to pump out through the skin .

I have digestive problems on gourmet raw too. That's why I'm such a smoothie fan!

Amazing how good raw food is for the skin, isn't it?

Yeah whole fruits and greens are the ideal building material to allow energy for creation of the best bodymind possible, I say it quite often but the records not broken juuuuust yet....
...'If only we would get out of the bodies way'!

The more obstructions we put in (our mouth) then the harder the 'clean up' job gets & the further glowing health fades into the distance & becomes an elusive tease that we chase until the lesson is finally learnt.

I noticed that we have two things in common. Bananas and Spinach! lol. Those are the two main ingredients in my smoothies and then I put others in. I love banana/mango/spinach and banana/blueberry/strawberry/spinach as well. I don't like celery to much in mine because the blended I have doesn't shred the celery too much so I am left with stringy things that get left in my teeth. :(

In my case, first thing I´ve noticed immediately (within first 7 days) was weight loss. I´m into bodybuilding & fitness for quite a long time... I´ve always trained hard, lifted weights, been active in many sports, doing that cardio stuff... but I wasn´t able to lose the final fat covering my abs. It´s pursued me for years. I tried this and I tried that, but nothing worked. Finally, I gave this raw diet a shot and it amazed me totally!!! I could continue with other improvements, but you asked for the first one. Diet was the only thing I changed, so after years of training, this was huge proof for me! Love, Michal

I envy you the weight loss. Mine is coming down but it is very slow. I have some thyroid/metabolism problems, though, so that i'm losing it at all is a good sign.

Exercise is great to accelerate weightloss and give your thyroid a kick along :-)

I do an hour of yoga a day--some of it quite active--and I lift weights, and I walk several miles a day.

Think that's about the only reason I'm not much heavier. :(

Cool sounds like a good well-rounded routine, except maybe one element missing...
I know what finally worked for me was more intense exercise like ...jogging for example because apparently intense exercise (your personal level) increases the enzymes that help liberate/release energy from our fat reserves (not to mention many other benefits) and this has been confirmed for me from the results i have experienced.

I few 'hardish' lymph-pumping sessions a week can really mobilise the fat and make a big impact.

Dancing, jogging, stairclimbing, walk/jog/run in one session, aerobics, spin/cycling hills all are great for this.
