i´m 5 months 100 % raw.. and my muscles got very small... i would like to know what kind of veggies have some good and lots of protein to offer? what are you doing for protiens? best
if you kept up your activity during those five months raw, you didn't lose any muscle. if you went seditary during those five months, you might of lost two pounds of muscle weight. what you lost was a lot of water wieght that was suspending your toxic waste. and you probably lost fat that was 'marbled' into your muscle, making them look larger. what you have now is the revelation of the muscle you actually had 5 months ago.
protien does not build muscle. it is taken in your body and the body does not say "wow-protien" let's make muscle out of it. or 'ohboy, excess protien, let's make bigger muscles. there is ample protien in ~raw~ fruits and vegetables to use in building and replacing muscle. if the body calls for them to be built or replaced.
what builds muscle is exercise ,and strength training. some scientists are now looking at the benefits of exercise and aging process, to keep are bodies rebuilding and not decaying.. good raw fuel (food) is just one component of a healthy lifestyle.
Hate to disagree with you buddy, but protein is directly essential to building muscle. this is why babies survive and thrive on a liquid diet solely of breast milk and/or formula, which is largely protein and fat.
i dont disagree with your assertion that humans hold water weight to dilute high levels of toxins. nor is there no doubt that he lost marbling.
however, all over the internet you can find countless studies that point to the importance of protein in the diet and how an anabolic diet is almost always directly correlational to the amount of protein in the diet.
in one sentence you say protein does not build muscle. then in the sentence after next yo say there is enough protein in raw fruits and veggies to build and replace muscle. which one is it? does protein build muscle or not?
the question of whether there is enough protein in fruits and veggies to maintain and build muscle mass is not a simple question and depends on the gender, weight, and age of the person in question. this is not a dogmatic issue - it's simple science.
my humble recommendation to Hans - watch out for dogmatic posters like above and definitely try and get professional oinions - opinions like the above can do serious harm to your health.
I personally do a vegan rice protein. Nutribiotic makes it. rice protein is not a complete protein so you need to mix it with some other source in order to complete its amino acid profile. I personally mix it with cashew butter in my smoothies - and it's my main source of protein. I'm only about 170 lbs tho so i can get by with not a lot of protein.
like it said, it depends on what level of mass you're trying to maintain. rice protein, hemp protein, even soy protein... all are usefl. speak to a well recommended naturopath.
I have experience with this problem... all bad.
What you need to do now is stop losing. If you don't want to lose more, start eating more, anything you have to. Don't think that you have lost all the fat and now you're okay. You will keep losing, you may level out for a while... then one day your clothes are too big again. If you over eat you may gain fat back, but it will be pure mush, not firm like you lost.
I forget the names, but people tend to have one of two different types of muscle, one can be readily built-up the other can't. I have the type that can't. So if you are like me, whatever firm mass you lost is gone... forever. Just don't lose anymore.
I listened to the well meaning people who said not to worry about it...

peas, lentils ( you can sprout them if they're not split), spinach, kale, broccoli, seaweed, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, nuts.
There are some boys with big muscles who are raw, they work out a lot I think. Personally I like men's muscles when they are more lean and subtle than the meathead body builder thing. Loads of women love skinnier guys.
some guys look ripped in clothes. i kinda gotta get outta my clothes to get the ladies to notice that I work out. sorta makes me wish that i could walk around naked - or at least topless. it would be a lot easier with the ladies that way.
I agree with rawboner, body mass does not equate to to strength or power. Your true muscles will have been hidden by excess water/fat and toxic waste. I work out with weights regularly on a 100% raw vegan diet, and of the 25 years plus I competed at Judo, several of those years were on a raw vegan diet. There is ample protien to be found in a well balanced raw diet, and along with regular exercise your will muscles will be replenished as required.
However, don't get hung up on perceived "protein requirements" or RDA values for vitamins and minerals. Each persons nutritional needs are different as is their ability to absorb them. Just ensure that your diet includes as wide a variety of raw foods as possible, if you feel unsure about it then consult a Raw food trainer.

I lost muscle too, being raw for 4.5 months. I figured out that my body needs some animal protein like eggs and fish. When I added these back in, my muscle very obviously increased within 2 months.
I can feel that my leg and arm muscle is much denser and my body has shape again (I was skinny but still flabby on raw). Now I am leaner but firmer.
Some people easily break down and utilize plant proteins, but I don't. My protein intake is only a little bit higher than it was when I was raw (40-50 gms) but the type of protein makes all the difference for me.
I've been putting on tons of muscle the last few weeks doing rock climbing and yoga. I've been eating a lowfat, high fruit raw vegan diet for 4.5 months (no supplements). My muscles are recovering really fast and I'm getting much stronger very quickly. I recommend reading the 80/10/10 Diet if you wanna learn more about the fruit approach.
chlorella, spirulina, maca (many bodybuilder use it), hempseeds, all kind of sprouts, bee pollen ... thats what i use .... anyways daily exercises are necessary too, ... either i do my protein smoothie, or i have my trail-mix with hempseeds, different kinds of nuts, seeds, goji's and other berries ... it's allways good to change from time to time ...
be happy

Just from personal experience, you need protein. I know a lot of raw-fooders like to say you don't need it, but you do. I was raw for three years and believed all that hype, until I finally realized that the low protein thing was not good for your body. I became extremely weak and hypoglycemic doing low protein (yes, even when I was eating tons of greens and vegetables - they're not always an adequate source of protein). It's up to you to decide what type of protein you use, I use vegetarian protein (legumes, rice protein), some people use hemp protein, others use animal protein. Decide what works best for you. Balance is key in a diet, you don't want too much fruit or too many veggies, because you'll miss out on other valuable nutrients. Also, don't use nuts for protein, nuts contain more fat than protein and the high lipid ratio will make you feel lethargic when consumed in excess.
Careless whispers, have you ever seen the video, and tell me you didnt feel sad, that he lost forever his love for his one night of wickedness with that she wolf??
And they are raw?? I feel like I have seen them at TJ's but for some reason I did not think they were raw. This is exciting. That sounds so good right now.
I was at my friends
tonight and she had a pack and I opened one up with a nutcracker, omg. Is it a nut? Its so meaty and you don't have to cook or boil. I was so happy. I took them with me to my new house and I love them.
Have you ever??
