Give it to me Raw

And why?

And does anyone know what questions one might actually ask themselves to find out what their "spirit animal" might be, in accordance with the original tradition (which I believe is Native American in origin) of this concept?

I am MeadowLark... long spiritual story. In short and walk with my Lord.
I will always claim a turtle; it guided me to a better understanding of who I am in His eyes.
Merry Christmas! Jesus is the reason to celebrate this season.

LOL at the kitten picture! It's SO cute!

I once had someone tell me that mine was . . . a dog. Everyone else in the group had some cool shit, like an eagle, but mine was a DOG. And I never thought of it again until I read this! Now I know there are other dogs and I wished I'd paid more attention to what the guy was saying after he said I walked with the dog. ROFLMAO.

As a matter of note, I have to say that FROGS have always been a huge thing in my life. When I was very young, I used to love to play with them - I wasn't afraid of them, never thought they were "slimy" or anything. We used to catch them in buckets and then play with them until they tired of us and hopped away. Then, for no reason at all (around age 8 or 9), I became terrified of them. . .utterly terrified. I used to swear that they would follow me or chase me in the evenings and no one believed me. Then, my brother James and I were playing in the drive one late afternoon and a toad hopped in front of us. I screamed bloody murder and moved one way - the toad moved that say. I moved another, the toad moved that way too. My brother tried to hold it at bay with this sapling we'd made into a "staff. . .like that guy has on that movie Beastmaster. . ." and I, in the midst of my insanity, screaming "KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT" and shoved the stick. And killed the frog. In an instant, I was calm again and realized what I'd done. My brother and I looked at each other and cried and cried. Our grandfather came out to see what was going on. He was furious with us. "You don't DO that. What's wrong with you? You don't kill toads." I was never sorrier for anything in my life than I was at that moment and I know that my brother felt the same way. I don't know how many years it was before we stopped praying for forgiveness from the frogs. I wasn't afraid of them anymore, but for years I would tear up at the site of a frog. And since my friends think I'm crazy anyway, I had no qualms about seeing a frog and saying "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."

Many years after that, when I was 25 and my brother was 19, he was killed by a drunk driver. The sun was just coming up after I'd left the hospital and arrived at my mother's house (the poor dear was out of town when this happened) and sat on the steps, because I couldn't face the people waiting inside. And this is not a joke or a tall tale or any stress-induced hallucination. . .it was the dead of winter (what little winter we have here), when the frogs and toads are all nestled in the ground waiting for warmer weather, when I heard a rustle to my left. I looked over at the flower bed, and out hopped a toad. He hopped closer and closer to me and then stopped. I stared at him and felt this overwhelming feeling of relief. I started to cry, and then I stopped and when I looked up, he was hopping back to the flower bed.

Ever since then, in hallmark moments of my life, frogs are with me. A frog hopped into the church and halfway down the aisle at my wedding and on my porch, years later, when I decided to leave my husband. A tree-frog fell on my shoulder the day I met the man who would be my "forever husband" and one was sitting on the nose of my surfboard as I was getting ready to surf in Florida. . .five minutes before a message was left for me on my cell phone that my new niece came into the world. And more recently, as I was helping my father move from his beautiful, large house into much smaller, slightly shopworn new home. He'd been "downsized" and I was so worried about him, I thought that I was going to pass out from the stress of it all. As we'd unpacked the last box, I walked out of his new front door and right into the path of an oncoming hop toad. :) I knew everything was going to be fine.

I have two small ponds in my back yard where families of bullfrogs live. Shiny, lime-green, white-bellied bullfrogs that you don't see often around here, have taken up residence in these two ponds. I hear them at night and when I step out in the mornings/evenings to feed the "big dogs" and the cat (all three, mighty protectors!), they go "PLOP!" into the pond and resurface only their large eyes. My husband is amazed that the mighty-hunter-cat Squeak has not killed them (as he has squirrels and birds and moles), but I think all of the animals in the yard know that I would find it unforgivable. (Or maybe they just don't like frogs?) My curious little shih tzu (who lives inside and is my "baby") only pants at them and turns his head as if he is trying to understand what they are or what they're saying.

Now that I've written this all out, I wonder if that crazy guy who told my friends that they were eagles and dolphins and wild horses misheard whatever was telling him that my guide was a DOG. Maybe whispers from the spirit world sound a lot alike when you've got a bunch of 13 year olds popping bubble gum in your ear. Maybe someone told him "frog" instead of "dog." I dunno. (shrug) Or maybe he just thought I was ugly! Ha ha ha! xoxo

So, as I type this out,

I love this thread! I dont know what my totem is now. I am having a hard time connecting. I think I have a few animal spirits around me..

I am taking care of my friends house now who has 24 birds! 2 parrots, 5 cockatiels and 17 chickens (some roosters) I guess alot of bird medicine! I am having alot of dreams about wings and flight.

I am having some interesting encounters with the main giant rooster. So maybe rooster would be one of my totems now.

im confused. matt monarch swears by regular colonic hydrotherapy. its his no.1 raw tip, didn't think it could be dangerous but now it kind of makes sense. enemas seem much more natural in comparison.

I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....

The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.
