Raw Food not only changes your relationship with health - it also changes your relationship with money. Raw Food and holistic education starts to make you really present to where your dollars are going and what impact they have on people + the planet.
Question: What don't you spend money on now that you use to? How have your dollars shifted since embarking on your health journey? What business do you support and not support?
Specific examples would be fantastic! We want to learn from your experiences.
I have stopped buying so many things. Most cleaners, personal products, OTC drugs and fewer Rxs, junk that I used to think I needed for entertainment and to add value to my life.
At the same time, I did buy somethings I otherwise would not have: dehydrator, blender, food processor, new juicer, new glass food storage containers, food saver, vacuum food storage containers, gardening supplies, organic fertilizers, organic seeds, natural minerals (to make cosmetics), vinegar by the gallon (for cleaning), essential oils, .water filters.
Outside of food and toilet papers, and occasional clothing. I don't buy too much. I put half my discretionary income in savings and spend the other half on books and art/craft supplies.
I spend on food, paper and art supplies(though I find a lot recycled), rent, utilities, not much else. I get most books through trade or from the library. Sometimes transportation... there's not much else to spend money on. Just business supplies.
Never spend money on clothing. Most of my money is spent on good fresh produce, superfoods, and herbs. I use to spend a lot on video games, gaming systems, junk foods, and cigarettes. I don't even touch any of those things anymore. It seems every since i became more health conscious I have an interest in planting, yoga, and nutritional and spiritual research. I definitely support companies which go to great lengths to provide us with raw products and supplements. I also support some of the air purifier/ionizer companies because air quality in many areas is quite poor. I also must say that I support most of the comedians out there. They are there to make us laugh during tough times. They allow us to laugh and realize that sometimes we are truly a ridiculous species :) I do not support the meat industry, fast food industries, dairy industries, or any other company which negatively impacts the environment and the people inhabiting it. May they one day fall! I know shame on me! :) Well I think I answered the questions.
I spend my earnings on food, shelter, my dogs, bills, and life investments. The only uncalculated cost would be film props every month.
I do not pay for the following items anymore...
-cable television (instead, I use internet)
-new DVDs, CDs, or books (instead, I use Netflix, US library, Strand bookstore for buy backs)
-toiletries (no traditional soap or shampoo anymore. Instead, I basically use baking soda, citrus, and oils. For teeth I use Ipsap)
-house cleaners no more (Instead, I use water, baking soda, citrus)
-FUR or leather (I still have some of these items from my past life)
i have given away most of my clothes. not cuz of fit and size or anything. am the same size pre raw. actually may be healthier and not skinny as i was when cooked vegan. but i just feel good with less clothes now. i dunno why...
i went for a nice clean out some months back and all my old cds, books and stuff went. feel good with few things now.

Your head must have had a good clear-out then recently I'm guessing?!? That's what I find, the more chaos and clutter I have going on on the inside the more it will mirror this outwards ie my house and how I deal with my material possessions.......shopping habits also, the clearer and happier I am the less I feel the need to accumulate stuff......;)
i need one more mega cleaning soon!!!! i find i need so less things now and the more space, the more room to welcome higher vibrations !!! and soon enough more of things that matter and not just "stuff"
am sure i will bring in all those now that my spaces are going more and more open!:)
What an awesome question! We stopped paying for cable/satellite about 8 years ago. We needed to make a new album with our band and found we were wasting too much time in front of the tube. Funny thing is... I don't really miss it. I do however watch dvd's. But at least they are without advertising campaigns every 15 minutes!
I also refuse to spend money on what I call 'free advertising for other people'. Ya know... the clothing that has the brand emblazoned across it. When did this get popular? I want to ask people if they are being paid to wear that crap! Why would I pay $40 for a lousy tshirt that says "GUESS" across the chest! Hilarious! I'd rather get a plain white T and take a sharpie to emblazon my own message. Thank you very much! LOL.
I don't buy so many clothes, I used to be addicted to fashion. I don't eat out any more, I just eat raw at home. I buy spiritual books, health books, and books, books, books. I support credence.org for Philip Day books and insights, Detox Your World for Superfoods and insights, and Amazon for books, ebay for clothes.
In NYC, petite models are pretty hard to book, because there are so few! I know one, Miss Asian America and she's constantly busy doing commercials!
Shorties are goodies lol
That is so true, its very funny and Miss J wears the most random things every week. This last season Tyra "revolutionized" the industry by putting short girls on the show LOL
Yes, your liver can regenerate and adapt. I juice feasted for 3 months to clear some health ailments that I had my entire life. Anyway, in the recommended regimen they recommend taking some fat every day like 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, and 1 tab...
I did it to get rid of allergies. Of course I was not raw when i did this, I did a treatment for chicken, i basically had extreme sensitivities to a bunch of different foods and was always craving chicken as a result. After I could eat it without ...
Unfortunately, my dogs were microchipped before I got them. I haven't decided what to do about it yet. Really don't want them to have surgery to take them out.
