I really want to purchase a book that talks about the raw food diet and what it can do for you because I'm not sure which approach to take...I've heard The 80-10-10 Diet is one of the best, but what about others such as Tonya Zavasta?
There are so many books about eating raw! When I first went raw I found ways to get books without spending money- that way I could decide which approaches fit my personal health needs, food preferences and lifestyle before I spent money on them. Here's where I went:
1) The library
2) The local raw food cafe (ours sells books and lets you page through them while you eat there).
3) Raw meetups ( members of those groups might own books that you can borrow).
The thing about eating raw is that there is no "raw food diet." All we do is eat food in their whole, uncooked state. Eventually we each find a method that works best for our unique set of preferences and needs. Reading a wide variety of books gave me a broader foundation of information to work from - hence my desire to borrow, rather than purchase books at first.
For me, I think the more raw info I read, the better. I enjoyed 80-10-10 for many reasons, but also enjoyed Rainbow Green equally for different reasons. Tonya Zavasta's books are balanced with her own story and scientific exploration for reasons why the raw diet works.
In the end, I think it's important to learn all we can and then follow what our instincts tell us is best for our bodies.
I'm sure you'll gain inspiration from both authors you've mentioned, as well as from many others.
I just got her book your right to be beautiful and its great! So far really interesting but I'm only part way through. I'll keep you updated. She has a great story.
I like Natalia Rose's The Raw Food Detox Diet, and Brigitte Mars' Rawsome. Natalia is fun and funny--and really emphasizes the sweetness and joy of life. She inspired me to go raw. Brigitte Mars is knowledgeable in nutrition, and she discusses the healing properties of the individual plant foods. I really enjoy the medicinal aspect of Rawsome. I get a great vibe from both of these women.
I like Tonya Zavasta's books, I have Quantum Eating & her DVD's and
like them a lot. She has some good points and tips I don't agree with
everything she is saying, I like how she eats less and know how she
feels with a lighter tummy and what a nice feeling that is. She has a lot of
good points & information. I think it is a good read.
I believe the best diet is sticking with a 100% raw vegan lifestyle and
eating very simply & getting a big variety of fruits & veggies and some
nuts and seeds. The more books we read and learn from the better.
My lifestyle is a lot of 80-10-10 with a big mix of things from all the
leading people in the movement. Been doing this for a long time now
and fine-tuning my lifestyle and it just keeps getting better and better,
the longer I go and more I know & feel.
I have studied, researched & met with almost all the leading raw fooders
doing the lifestyle. The main thing is to keep going and keep getting simpler
with the food & knowing what is really raw and what is not and your body will
adjust and you will find a nice balance & it will be so amazing when you
get to that point.
So, just enjoy the ride & keep learning, growing & keep it up!
Best wishes to everyone & let's support each-other & make this a better world!
I like Quantum Eating. I think what she says about raw, unadultarated food makes so much sense. I have hundreds of dollars in powders that I'm not willing to throw away, though. But I'd rather buy 20 dollars in fruits than 2 bottles of agave, make green smoothies instead of using green powders...The liver can't really translate powders, sweeteners, and dehydrated stuff. Once in a while is okay though. But she's right, you can never turn a prune back into a plum!
Amen, Loren. So do you feel the same way about blending then? The whole fiber is still there with blending so not improving on nature as much as sort of 'pre-chewing', if you will
I'm planning to start enemas too (I think when my roommate will leave next month...). Of course it's unnatural, but we have eaten unnatural for years and years and I believe it can help a lot getting out the waste.
I just wanted to ask, what water...
I have a full size Excalibur that I never use. What an investment huh?
I just found I prefer my fruit n veggies simply prepared, I have little patience for the dehydrator. Ive seen the magical things people prepare with it though, so if you like m...
