In 1908, Henry Ford sold his model T cars for $850 dollars or 42.5 ounces of gold. The base price of the all-wheel-drive 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with ALL options comes to about $46,750 dollars or 42.5 OUNCES OF GOLD!
All money is is a perceivable representation of trading value. If not paper, coins, if not coins, beads, if not beads... Fuck, I dunno, kisses.
A perceivable representation of trading value, that is all e-commerce is. Just because it is digital doesn't make it any more sinister or any less valuable. Any other monetary system would have had a similar structure to it (exponential increase). Just because your friends over at Zeitgeist tell you something, doesn't mean you must stop thinking for yourself. "Money" is an idea, it doesn't matter if it's represented by numbers on a screen or backed by a gold standard. Anything other than directly trading good for good is going to be somewhat corrupt and misguided. But this system is the only one that can support large and global trading. If someone wants two tonnes of rice it's easier to charge the numbers on a screen than a perceived equal amount of product.
