I gotta stop reading this site before I go to bed... I had a dream about paula deen last night. She had some diner and I was walkin around inside and some lady called me over to her table to try this maca cake that paula made. It was pretty good! I remember saying something about how it tasted good but probably isn't very good for ya and she started to make fun of me lol. Sayin to keep that kind of thing to myself ; ) Damn you paula!!
I love how fake people are sometimes lol. I can't imagine that tasted good at all... I used to love watchin the food network!! I can't wait for the day a raw food chef get's some air time.
In the UK they are going to release an anti-obesity drug over the counter at chemists. I wonder if there will be a culture of popping the pill and still eating no better?
I grew up eating a horrible diet. I can't say I never had a hamburger with bacon and egg between 2 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. However, if I had not changed my ways I definitely would have tried that. I think the sweet with the savory would be like link sausage with a side of maple syrup, which people eat in the South all the time.
I understand the great attraction that Southerners have to this kind of food and while Dean is charismatic, there is a charisma in this food to Southerners. The thought of eating heavy Southern foods as a rule now disgusts me but only from a health standpoint. If it were healthy, I would still be eating that way. When you grow up with food which defines your culture, it is more than just liking the way it tastes. It becomes part of your identity and is a way of announcing your life.
I may not eat BBQ pork, black eyes peas, rice, coleslaw and spinach pancakes today, but from a standpoint of taste and the comfort it brings me when I eat it, I think it is a wonderful meal. If you didn't grow up eating like that, it may genuinely offend you but I really identify with that type of food.

I totally can identify with you here. If I went to offer that to people where I live, they would be all over it. While I love my choices for food now, and would never go back , sometimes I long for how walking in the cracker barrel beside the fire and eating their cooked cabbage etc with my family made me feel...not the food itself..but the situation.
Guess this is where it would be nice if anyone I knew ate the same things as me. Not here though...it's practically unheard of to be a vegetarian.
OMG!! The funny thing is that my friends' mother ACTUALLY made this for her family as a "special dinner"! When she told me about this I had no idea that it was Paula Deen's recipe and on public TV-I thought her mom was just crazy. What is this world coming to!? Ugh, it makes me ill :(
Amen, Loren. So do you feel the same way about blending then? The whole fiber is still there with blending so not improving on nature as much as sort of 'pre-chewing', if you will
I'm planning to start enemas too (I think when my roommate will leave next month...). Of course it's unnatural, but we have eaten unnatural for years and years and I believe it can help a lot getting out the waste.
I just wanted to ask, what water...
I have a full size Excalibur that I never use. What an investment huh?
I just found I prefer my fruit n veggies simply prepared, I have little patience for the dehydrator. Ive seen the magical things people prepare with it though, so if you like m...
