Give it to me Raw

What do people think of the pushy sales hype of the raw foods movement?

Im new to this movement and lucky to stumble accross simple eating plans advised by the natural hygiene 80/10/10 athletes. I know lots of people on this site say they are 'pushy' and 'preachy'.

My question is 'dont you find all those adverts 'pushy' and 'preachy'?. Personally i just switch off. Heck, there is an advert on this forum every page! But i dont mind because i know its just sales hype and people got to sell something 'new'.

Do people find it pushy and preachy that they get emailed sales lists regularly?
How do people feel when others tell them 'Your vegan diet is idealogy and you must learn to eat blood and animal products despite what your intuition tells you!'

I know so many people that leave the raw foods movement because of pushy and preachy money hungry supplement sellers. Go listen to their infomercials and it sounds exactly the same as the cooked version. If the raw diet they claim is so 'nourishing' then why do they sell antidotes to the conditions their 'raw' diet causes? Candida(magic pills and cleanses), constant sugar cravings(honey, raw cakes), lack of energy(cacao and mushrooms).

People are so sucked in, that they even pay money to attend a 'raw' wedding!. 'Hurry tickets selling out fast and will experience a price rise after this date..'

Ive got respect for these Doug Grahams, Rick Dina's and Durianriders out there because they walk their talk 100% and provide the most objective nutritional and lifestyle plan out there. You ask them a question and you dont get some wishy washy vague answer, but rather you get what you need to hear and often its not what we want to hear and sometimes we just got to 'suck it up' and act like adults and be responsible for our actions.

Namaste.

I think we should not push raw food and raw food products AT ALL.

Because, if we don't push, we leave all the food business to companies like Unliver, Glaxo, Danone and others,

companies with a much higher consciousness than for example Brian Clement and Gabriel Cousins and David Wolfe.

I am glad that the more advanced 80/10/10 eaters / natural hygienists support me in this opinion, so that we

can help to make a beautiful world. I am glad they thoroughly know what they support.

Glad to know Pete, that you are not making money in any way regarding health / raw food, lectures, advising,

supporting, talking, writing books, breathing etc...

Welcome to the closed rooms of the communists of the rawfood world!

Humor is a very serious case....

Just made me smile and laugh....Pete, your mission on this planet, I believe, is to bring joy to others, make people laugh, while living a healthy and happy lifestyle and sharing that lifestyle with others. I think you're wonderful.

It's the people who are eating this stuff that are following intuition. Most RAF people only adopted their diets after trying many other things and don't push it on others. If you do well on 811...congrads, because it's hellya lot less of time commitment than RAF. You don't have to visit farms to make sure your raw animal foods are taken care of...and they are expensive!

It's the 811 people that most often push their diet as the only way and portray animal-product consumers as bad or even evil.

I don't like the annoying parts of the Raw food world either...the supplements, the imported packaged products, the colonics, and the cleanses. I don't think those things are necessary or good for health. Most of them are snake oil. Lots and lots of posts here about people who use them and then have problems...which they don't think to tie to them.

But if someone is selling something genuinely natural and true, I'm all for it. I support many small farmers who grow excellent products.

One problem is the idea of a "raw foods movement". I'm never sure what that's supposed to mean exactly.

I think of raw as a way to eat which promotes health and healing for people and planet. I'm not here to join a movement.

When you say people "leave the raw foods movement"....I have to wonder if they were ever even in it for the right reasons to begin with.

I also think that "buyer be ware" applies to everyone with a sales agenda. A fool will separate themselves from their money... be it to a raw product or any other. Should we expect raw products to be automatically more ethically sold? Trust is earned in my opinion. It pays to be critical and aware of what we buy and from what source. Those who sell aren't inherently bad. Look at each transaction and decide what has value. The power is in each choice. Vote with your money. Let others vote with theirs. Valued products and businesses will succeed.

And even a paid lecture can provide much more value than a free lecture which is providing nonsense....

(not pointing to DR's free lectures in this case...).

The whole blind focus on "the money thing" is ridiculous, when it is brought as black versus white..

I am just saying: people, use the nuance, while you still can...

Yes- they're called petechiae and I've always heard that they are liver-related. They can also be due to anemia and low platelet count. If you also bruise easily, that might be the likely cause. I get them too and they come and go.
