Give it to me Raw

Thought the avid gardeners might be interested in this.

A Scottish couple discovered that if they added crushed rock dust to their garden, the resultant produce had ten times the nutrients of store bought stuff.

Plus, for bonus points, what could be better than football sized cabbages? Exercise and nutrition all in one - the perfect combination!

because supposedly we can't digest the inorganic form of it.. (or something)... we need bacteria in the soil to digest and incorporate the minerals...then the roots of the plants work with the bacteria and do an exchange. from what i understand although i don't know much else.

that is the point of eating fish or marine phytoplankton or seaweed for trace minerals. :)

hey does anyone know how to put alot of folic (or folate) acid into the soil? i know it's a b-vitamin....can anyone recommend a book or link?

i would guess its bacteria that actually forms it... or a plant synthesizes it from the bacteria? i have not a better idea sorry try googling it!

sorry, i know this sounds like a question with an obvious answer, but what IS rock dust? i mean obviously its crushed rocks, but is it a certain kind of rock? is it something that can be come across naturally or something that needs to be bought? if so, where or what would it be called (im in ireland, not in the US)? also, we fertilize with seaweed (which is FREE).....I wonder if this has the same effect, or if rock dust is still beneficial even if youre fertilizing with seaweed...?

seaweed is probably better. basically the sea is the primordial soup of life. rock dust can have different amts of differernt trace minerals depending on where its sourced so you have to be careful about it. i personally wonder if its just easier to get seawater EXTRACT. its cheaper and easier to ship than huge bags of rock dust. although if you can find a local granite quarry than you can just drive your pickup over and get a bunch of cheap sifted dirt or what not.

hmmm. i live right on the coast right now so its easier and cheaper to go gather bags of seaweed. id be interested in whether or not the rock dust would still be necessary/beneficial, but id rather stick with the seaweed if its just as good because it doesnt cost anything...well, except the hundred euro it just cost me to get a hitch on my car so i can haul it ;)

i would just go with seaweed but i heard u need to soak it first to get a lot of the salt out of it. you can google that.

Try this Doreen. I found out about it when I worked at Jubbs longevity. There is absolutely no aftertaste and a bottle lasts forever. I've been using it for years. Lucky Vitamin has amazing prices on many things too. http://www.luckyvitamin.com/i...
