heyyyyy people. just interested in what ya'll have to say about chinese herbs and traditional chinese medicine. i'm working with an acupuncturist/tcm practitioner and i'm a newbie to this kind of healing. would like to hear if any of you have experience or success stories to share? or any thoughts on the subject really. let's hear it! =)
I have been getting accupuncture for over 35 years and many times it has been very successful.
But the treatment is only as good as the therapist. Also some may specialize say, in womans issues. Ask them if they have successfuly treated people with your condition before.

I went through 3 acupuncture sessions about a month ago to improve my digestion. I'm not sure that it did anything to be honest which is why I didn't go to the 4th session. It definitely is a legitimate procedure. The meridians do exist. I just would have needed alot more than 3 sessions to feel a difference and I wasn't willing to pay the money to find out.
I could feel something going on though for sure. My legs would go numb and I would get hot and have a slight difficulty getting enough oxygen with each breath. Not sure these are good things lol... but atleast something was happening.
I do believe more in the herbs though. I was actually having some painful prostate problems which were relieved tremendously by saw palmetto tea. I think herbal teas are great additions to a raw food diet. Here's a video that explains why.

I love Chinese massage. It is always much cheaper than having a western person do it, and far more effective. I trained in massage myself, and have had zillions of massages, but Chinese wins hands down.
They know all about the body's energy flow, and are highly trained in all aspects of the body...
Another reason it is so good is because they keep their minds and emotions out of it, after some European massages I feel like I have absorbed the massuses last 3 days of emotional/mental crap thru my pores!!!
I also have had a lot of experience with acupuncture, which is very effective.
I always go to a proper Chinese place, where other Chinese people go,I don't go to peoples who aren't Chinese but who's done a course in it, because I have always noticed a huge difference between someone who has done a course and someone who's been brought up with it.
Also Thai massage and Aryuvedic medicine is effective and truly holistic. I've always had great results.
I was thinking today (at work) about Self-Healing. Here's a quote: "Self-healing is the best of all forms of healing" - Yogi Bhajan, the bringer of Kundalini Yoga to the West (America).
Which is what raw is all about, don't you think? We are taking responsibility and DIRECTLY INVOLVING ourselfes in our growth. When I began practicing Shiatsu Massage in Berkeley in 1984 (acupressure massage, some styles of which are associated with the meridians of Chinese acupuncture, the acu-points, pressure points, energy points, etc.,), I had my first acupuncture treatment. That woman could run energy down my legs - felt like she was shocking me. Since then I've had dozens of sessions. I don't go anymore. I don't even like to see a Chinese herbalist who will take my twelve pulses, check my tongue, look at my eyes, ask a few questions. They might say, "You have weak spleen chi", or "Your liver is deficient (that would be ENERGY-WISE)".
I hang out on this site to feel a connection to people don't sit in front of the telly eating chips all night, then go the doctor to find out why they haven't gone to the bathroom in three days, who will likely tell them, "Oh, three days is good". I learn from people who want to be Vibrant and Happy. I don't want to see some business person whose outside life is as important, if not more so, than what they do for a living. I am loving reading about say, ashwaganda, holy basil, shilajit, to name but a few - and even I can't remember one from the other - at least care enough to educate myself and take it away. Take it away: expression denoting leaving the mundane.
"Don't get me wrong", he said. I'm not denying your experience positive. I just don't always relate to others the way I was able to say, when I was much younger. It was more natural then, not always, by a long shot, but I had friends I could talk to. It's not as easy now.
I think I'm goin' back.
To those days I knew
So well
In my youth.
