Give it to me Raw

i don't know what to think...I found a website the other day run by a guy who said he used to be a raw vegan and then went back to eating meat because he said that our diets are flawed in the long run.

he called RVs who have been on it for years "insane", "lunatics", develop "mental problems", etc, and said that we're all blind from the truth, that we should all wake up and "unmarginalize" ourselves.

i don't want to believe what this guy is saying, but I have to ask you guys what you all think.

we obv know that cooked animal protein is like poison, but is there any truth whatsoever to what this guy is saying?

any long term vegans out there with answers? :)

thanks!

I found I felt a lot more centered & sane when I added some animal products back into my life. I won't say its necessary -- I have found I'm the exception to the rule on LOTS of eating methods -- but for me, it literally pulled me back from the abyss.

Ultimatly you have to decide for yourself. I like to eat instinctually, ask my body "what is it you are needing right now?" and see what answer I get.

Hey, Goodfella. How are you doing? I don't have a website of my paintings yet—just flickr for now:

Goodfella, this is awesome! I have been looking for a free website for art--gave up a few months ago. Sorry Yafa, for the tangents here. I am very, very interested in this forum regarding meat and animal protein, but also in free websites for art stuff :-o

I just wanted to say thank you for posting this article. It is nice to see someone approach this topic with raw unbaised truth for a change. I feel as if I learned the most from teachers who step away from dogma strict percent categorizations, (100% raw, 80% etc) .. stepping away from the ego space thus embarking upon the journey of truth and enlightenment for all to follow.

Listen to your body and your inner truth, not what others have to say (because as I am sure many of you are aware, outside information changes virtually daily..... learn to listen to YOUR body first and foremost, that is the only constant one can rely on) Do what feels best, your body will tell you whats right for you.

Namaste and Good luck to all!

i like to find out things by experience. i have been a vegan for 10 years now. i found out i was able to eat alot of junk food without eating meat.LOL. Then in 2004 i became a raw vegan. What a tremendous difference. Within 8 months of being raw i went from not being able to jog a mile to running 8 miles with 1lb weights in my hands. i had so much energy. Then as time went on i realized i was consuming too much salt. i always disliked greens and preferred fruits, so to eat the greens i would use salt and oil. i usually do a cleanse or juice fast of some sort each year (since 2004). As i began to do it this year i was led to just use fruit and fruit only. Its started as a cleanse but now i am planning on spending 2009 this way (its 45 days now). After the first week i began to feel the pull of salt cravings and realized that this diet would cause me to overcome it. So, meat is definitely not a necessity. i could possibly understand it if you were stuck in the middle of alaska in winter with no food. Then one may have to kill an animal to survive. But other than that, its not a nutritional necessity in my experience.

Todd- eating raw made amazing differences in my life as well. It helped me to understand the kinds of foods my body likes best. I didn't miss meat at all, and found myself moving away from sweets and strongly seasoned foods. I wasn't interested in the raw versions of pies and brownies, nor did I even want much sweet fruit after awhile. It was as if I had cleaned myself out and was finally able to pay attention to what my body really needed rather than having to follow 20 different pieces of advice from 20 different people. The person I was eating raw with was very different from me. She gravitates towards heavily herbed/spiced/salted meals, dense foods and raw desserts. Both of us experienced dramatic improvements in our health and appearance despite our different raw diets.

We're all different and should honor our differences rather than denying what works for us because it disgusts somebody who doesn't know us from a hole in the ground!

My aunt has been eating raw veagan food for 14 years and that is what has kept her healthy before she had Reumatoid artrit on her back bone. I resently read an artikel that says that eating heated foods especially milk produkts. Can give you Alzhimers disease Cruetzfeldt-Jakobs disease, Parkinsons disease and more diseases. But just look at the people around you in the street. Do you think the diet we have today in the western world is a healty diet? It has changed a lot the last hundred years.

Hmm. So it sounds as if he is probably further taxing his adrenals by consuming tons of food. I'm sure Dillon is an amazing kid and you an amazing, hard-working woman. The cleaner and simpler his diet, the better his body can digest and assimilate...
