Give it to me Raw

Hay all,
Its been awhile since i have been on here, but would love to get some advice. My cousin is having a real hard time with her thyroid, its very underactive and the poor thing is tired ALL of the time...They want to of course yank it out, but she wants to see alternative methods and was wondering if anyone knows of a particular supplement or even food she can take to bring her levels back up? I believe she said that it should be at 47 and hers is at 0.001, so basically almost NON functioning.. ANY good feedback would be greatly appreciated! Blessings!

From what I know underactive thyroid is usually associated with lack of iodine. So increasing her intake of things like kelp and dulse would likely help. Also does she eat a lot of soy? I've read soy can have a very negative affect on the thyroid. So I would recommend she cut out all none fermented soy(soy milk, tofu, edamame). Here's an article that talks about thyroid issues, it might help, it mentions selenium and manganese as needed minerals for proper thyroid function:

Hope this helps and that she gets better.

I have low thyroid. My levels have been steady since I got a prescription for Armour Thyroid, quit soy, ate more kelp/seaweed. DO NOT HAVE THE THYROID REMOVED.

She definetly does NOT want to have it removed... We know that there is a better way... thank u!

Here's an interesting link concerning the connection between radishes and thyroid:

Radishes

One of the books I read, "Encyclopedia of Healing Juices," by John Heinerman, swears that radishes are the most beneficial vegetable to regulate the thyroid. John Heimerman is a medical anthropologist who has researched the medicinal use of foods and herbs around the world. This is what he learned during a 1979 visit with "medical experts at the Soviety Academy of Sciences":

I'm having great results suddenly since I started ThyroCare from http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com/ and since I've been taking nascent iodine. I've tried so many things and suddenly my temp has shot up into the normal range!! She will probably want to take some adrenal support, too.

The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.

things that have actually worked for me: Valerian root for tea - very calming... Lemon juice, sliced lemon peel, lemon grass or lemon verbina, raw honey, star anise (optional), maybe some ginger, hot water (let it all infuse together for a while) ...
