traditional food for a dansih village. this goes on every year. another bunch of confused humans dettached from their heart. i say its time we forge new traditions based on peace, love and fruits.
That's the Faroe Islands, technically part of Denmark, but it's own language and culture closer to Icelandic. That pilot whale kill thing is sad for many reasons. Those whales are full of mercury and other heavy metals, leading to a high rate of birth defects in children. Cultures in that area seem to have food traditions built out of centuries of desperation. In Iceland for example, fermented shark and sheep's heads are on the menu. But Iceland also has the advantage of geothermal power, which means that there are bananas available grown in greenhouses. Unfortunately, the economies of these countries aren't doing so hot right now, which means they are going back to old foods of desperation more and more.
@OP - Look, no one says this stuff is great to look at, even the RAF people here I really, truly doubt would want to eat something like this both because of the species and the way it's being killed. In fact, most of the RAF people I've met here I know for a fact go to great lengths to get their meat from ethical and humane farmers. So I don't really know why you're throwing this out there on THIS forum under THIS guise. Considering the type of people who frequent the site, the message here isn't making an impact besides insinuating that the RAF crowd is a participant in some way.
aren't you kind of preaching to the wrong audience here? i know there's a small group of raw meat eaters but the majority don't eat animal products especially meat. i do like your point and think it is valid but why not show it to an audience that choose to eat animal products?
Coulda put a warning in the title, I did not need to see this before bed. I was hoping it was a picture of some delicious looking cooked concoction, not whale slaughter. :(
There are plenty of shocking photos on the Internets. Congratulations, you found one. Good for you!
Preachy vegans who misdirect their effectiveness (thinly veiled self righteousness) by confronting their closest allies are sad.
If you want to promote change you should pick an audience of unconscious meat eaters. Not those here who are typically much more aware of animal husbandry and suffering issues.
Bored today? Or do really think that shocking this forum is the best way for you to get your vegan propaganda out?
But, I'm commenting on something brought here, apparently, to convert the membership to veganism... so I can't agree I'm trying to convert anyone to my way of thinking (which is what preaching is).
In fact, I'll go so far as to say that anyone who wants to be like me, in any way, by reading my words alone should think twice. I would prefer everyone think for themselves and make decisions based on a broad spectrum of information and influence.
But, I understand how you might not get it Nicko. No problem here.
I need a mango now more than ever.
This year has been the worst mango season I've ever seen :( Honey mangos were sad with light colored flesh that held little flavor...Kent mangos...don't even make me go there.
Last year was an AMAZING mango yea...
