Isn't the phrase "make sure you get enough calories" meant for people with a healthy weight? But what if you're overweight like me? I've lost 18 pounds so far in about 6-7 weeks. I need to lose about 50-60 pounds more. According to Nutridiary.com I need around 1950 calories a day.
I usually feel ok with 17-1800 calories a day, but feel a little pushed to eat more. I don't have problems feeling too hungry unless I go below 1600 calories. Actually most of the time I feel great. :)
I usually eat a fruit smoothie in the morning: 2 bananas, 5-6 oz frozen fruit/berries, then about 7-8 pieces of fruit which includes my lunch. After work I have some fresh orange juice from 3-5 oranges. A few pieces more of fruit. For dinner a large salad 1-1.5 pounds. 1-2 more pieces of fruit. A large green smoothie: 3-4 bananas, 3-4 oz leafy greens, 2-3 dates, 4-6 oz. frozen berries and water. Sometimes later in the evening I'll have some dried fruits or 10 nuts or so.
I eat avocado, seeds and nuts 3-4-5 days a week usually in my salad and as far as possible I still stay below 10% fat. I had one week where I had 15-20 % fat everyday, I didn't like that. I definately feel better with less fat.
It should be a case of simple math, right? Eat less calories or exercise more and the weight will come off.
So the question is.....Is 17-1800 calories a day ok for me until the point where my weight is close to where it's supposed to be?
