Just take care of yourself and do as they say: wash your hands a lot, cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze, avoid contact with sick people, ect. It could be another scare like the bird flu.

I like the suggestions in the other thread to take homeopathics, too. I'd definitely do that.

What about keeping kids home from school? Should I even consider it? We live in a town with many people from Mexico, who may have gone there for spring break, but I don't know how many would have.

I don't even know who to listen to anymore, and myself doesn't know what she thinks....LOL too confusing

Okay, I hear ya.

You mean I shouldn't just sit on my computer all day listening to people who tell me I should be taking action instead of listening to people who might tell me something I don't want to hear, which would drive me to look for others to listen to who might tell me something I do want to hear, but ultimately don't want to take action on, because that would mean taking charge of my own life???! :)

thanks pete! I'll go take a look.

I just read something on confirmed cases in NYC. (Also TX and CA) In densly populated places like NYC- it sounds scary. But compared to 500,000 people dying every year from other things it's nothing. Junk food kills more people than anything- and there isn't the least bit of hysteria surrounding IT!

*raises hand** Hello there.

Rawtastic, While I can appreciate your comparison only as it relates to the total number of deaths, that isn't what has people alarmed about swine flu.

With swine flu there are two issues: First, it is contagious, unlike the twinkie your co-worker might eat; Second, there is an immediacy in the possible result of death, which is also missing when your co-worker eats a twinkie.

Suvine, if your theory that people die from their beliefs and not their physical condition is true, I think you and other like-minded believers could really put on a show walking out in front of tractor trailers, subway trains, of perhaps throwing yourself down underneath moving bushhogs to demonstrate this theory. Of course, your mangled bodies would not lead to death and, if you truly believed, you could instantly return to your pre-mutilated state.

HI Meditating. I wasn't trying to make a diresct analogy. I just can't help tlking about what junk food does to people! Actually there are between 250,000 and 500,000 deaths each year in the united states due to flu. That is a lot of people. Over 100,000 die from bugs they catch in hospitals. And if you add up all of the other deaths from things people catch like food poisoning it's probably close to a million people who wouldn't have to die if they stayed at home and weren't exposed to virulent situations and people.

What Suvine says makes sense to me because a lot of deaths are caused by heart attacks and strokes due to stress. A lot of people would also not die if they though differently, worked on being positive, and did positive things like meditate.

I don't think she means to walk out in traffic..

Didn't we just read that a pharmaceutical company mixed up avian flu with human flu vaccine in Europe?

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
