hi lynnettetim...i can tell you what helped me most...i began with being raw untill noon time, eating cooked vegan after that. then i extended to raw untill dinner. anything cooked vegan for dinner. then i went all the way. the transition took about two years. many ups and downs during that time, and they all had to do with binging on cooked at various points in the transition. all were necessary to push me along. i love being raw. it's amazing. beyond anything i could've dreamed. all best in your journey!
i transitioned with natalia rose's "the raw food detox diet" which was awesome. she also just put out a new book called "detox4women" which was also really really great.
Congrats on looking for a healthier diet. I know you won't be disappointed :).
Transition is so key for success physically and emotionally. If you move too quickly the physical changes can be rough and the emotional attachments most of us have to foods can be very hard to deal with. Poeple can often yo-yo back and forth if they transition too quickly.
This is not meant to put you off! Just great to see you are asking about transition rather than just jumping all in.
Paul has definitely got a good thing going there with his suggestion. I also find that works a treat. The other key step is to just upgrade your food choices a little at a time and cut down the worse foods at the same time.
