so i am sprouting for the first time.. do i eat just the sprouted thing or the seed too? I know funny question Im sure it wouldn't hurt to do either... but ya what do you guys do?
cool thanks :) the only thing is i know the shell or hull falls off but the actual bean/seed is till there with the sprout coming out the end of it... do you eat the bean/seed? and the sprout? or just the sprout?
I've heard the alfafa sprout thing too - I wish someone would clear this up. The issue is there's some compound that is toxic. But I don't know how they tested the toxicity - if it was as an isolated compound, it's not necessarily relevant because maybe there's something else in the whole food to balance or neutralize it. Personally, I eat them fairly often, and as of yet have not perished.
actually I did hear that alfalfa was toxic in my self healing book, but he gave no reason why. hippocrates recommends them. Guess we gotta eat nothing but alfalfa sprouts for 7 years to truly find out.
As I understand it all legumes, meaning relatives of the bean family have a toxin in them in various quantities. I think it's a carcinogen and is destroyed when cooked. I also think I heard it disappears when sprouted, at least in beans but not sure. They still taste poisonous to me. Don't know about you all but I have always thought raw legume seeds tasted poisonous. I'd like to hear it if you'd like to say.
I not super clear on this but pretty sure it's pretty accurate.
Mayhaps! But I had about 1/2 cups of my own sprouted mung beans on my salad today and the distinct boost to my energy is the evidence I'm banking on. Then again, I don't do it much. I'm getting a little tired of green smoothies.
I agree completely. In fact I made a post awhile ago asking people on here to recommend a good tasting sprout because the lentil and mung bean sprouts I made tasted like poison. Maybe they taste good to some people, and are beneficial to them but not us.
Check out this article on Raw versus Cooked Foods and the science involved. There is a lot of discussion on the poisons in raw food and whether or not they are destroyed by cooking.
they gossip about which teams are going to trade or sign star players. Most of it is bullshit. They just create rumors to sell papers / get hits. Still I eat it up.
Hi agree with Erin, everything she suggested is very similiar to wha ti have found.
I am also seeing an accupuncturist and realize that we actually need cooked foods in our diet to support the spleen.
Healing with whole foods is a great start..
I've been doing some "research" on ear candling, and have found three different reports:
1) it's great, feels great, and really helps to clear out the sinuses/lymphs
2) it feels great, but that's just the warmth and it doesn't actually do anything...
Because we believe we are dying. Fact is there is no such thing as "natural causes" or "dying of old age" death is always the result of sickness and disease, of which, all are preventable.
I choose to not buy into the 'I am dying' thing, it's the...
