OMG so i have gone 100% raw well okay so 100% minus the fact I cant stop the craving and the temptation and the actual GOING TO Starbucks for my mocha or gingerbread latte or whatever....Is this going to totally ruin the whole raw thing? If i have 1 a day but eat totally RAW for everything else will I still loose weight? Anyone have a magic pill that will keep me away from Starbucks... i swear they must put crack in their coffee lol....
i saw these there i was thinking bout getting it too... maybe can just bring your own agave and almond milk and tell them to make it?? hmmm or just add it it to it yourself?
I still go to Starbucks, read the newspaper and do the crossword to exercise my brain. But I bring my own teabag and they give me a cup of hot water free!!!!
I am still addicted to the activity but not the coffee. Someday even the green tea will go.
I don't think coffee is that bad, especially when your system isn't very clean -- if it is your body won't tolerate it. Be warned. I once had a sip of coffee after 3 days of 100% raw, and my tongue swelled up. But apart from that, in the beginning, you can have the occasional coffee and still be raw.
If you must go there, avoid all the breads of course (assuming you do that -- not sure what gingerbread latte is and don't want to know), go for straight coffee, little to no sugar. Even better, go for yerba mate, or another kind of tea.
My experience similar to Martbook's. I never had to quit coffee, I just lost interest.
I was drinking lots of coffe too, and i needed to drink it, beause of all the mucous obstruction and phlegm in my body, this was the only thing to keep me awake for about one hour or just made me feel awake. That was when I turned vegan, but after being vegan for a year, i stoped coffee. I guess the phlegm changed into something more energetic.
Now that I´m raw, I have no mucous obstruction any more, and my normal-status is "being awake" - I guess if i would drink coffee now, I would go crazy, with my heart bumping my head of, and my nerves jumping around.
I guess you will not need it anymore, when your phlegm has reached a more energetic form and you will stop this by yourself.
Try weaning yourself off of it. That is how I had to approach my coffee addiction. There is a product called Teecino that is made from herbs and carob, it tastes just like coffee (most people recommend the vanilla nut but I think they are all wonderful) I know switching to that helped a lot of people break away from the coffee cravings.
Forgot to add, that if it is the energy kick you seek why not try some Yerba Mate. It does not taste like coffee (more like green tea) but it is brewed at low temps (with warm water over near boiling like coffee or traditional teas) Adding a bit of nut milk, cinnamon and nutmeg makes it taste very similar to Chai.
If you check out their website they have lots of information on how to wean yourself slowly to avoid caffeine withdrawals. There is no good reason to put your body through that strain. I used to drink a pot of coffee a day prior to being turn onto Teecino by other raw foodies. It is technically not raw because it is brewed like coffee but I feel much better about what I am putting in my body over traditional coffee. Now if I ever get the craving for coffee I can turn to a cup of that and be completely satisfied.
I would like to now list the benefits I have experienced since being on a low fat raw vegan lifestyle....
* Easily maintain a healthy weight, gaining weight is DIFFICULT unless I eat salt (which i haven't for 2years)
* Very quick recovery from i...
sub-acids are my favourite - but they bastards don't leave the tops on them and i can't plant them.... i must go to a sub-acid farm and steal some!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Your dog is sooo cute! I have a dog too and two cats, and I looove them! I feed them wheatgrass and they actually choose that before regular grass wich they normally chew on in the garden.
I decided to have a 50/50 raw/cooked meal at Vita last night, having had a desire for warm meals for last couple of weeks. They had a Vegan Paella, it was amazing but it's only the second time I have had grains for a year and I had headache soon a...
It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
