Give it to me Raw

im really getting into the raw swing of things here now, but why is my brain switching off? why cant i remember whether i went to the bank yesterday, or the list of things we are going to do today??

i already take vinpocetine to help memory, and fish oils too (i know the fish oils arent raw but they do help my joints)

i had to add some more cooked proteins to my diet this week as i have been quite tired and lifeless again.
so whats missing from my diet to make me so forgetful??

tyrosine and choline can help..

i found this on wiki

Dietary Sources

Tyrosine, which can be synthesized in the body from phenylalanine, is found in many high protein food products such as soy products, chicken, turkey, fish, peanuts, almonds, avocados, bananas, milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds.

i eat the ones in bold...a lot! lol

perhaps i get more protein than i think?

Also DHA is good to try. Yeah- the tyrosine and nano-B complex I take pretty consistently- basically because I don't have to try to get it specifically from certain sources. I do brewers yeast on flax crackers occasionally and would recommend this if someone is not taking b- supplements.

Also, I started taking iron. This was to get my blood levels up and posibly more energy. Ginger and ginsing are also good.

I used to eat a lot of soy when I was "Just" vegetarian and I think it messed me up too. So I would just leave that alone! Also cruciferous vegis slow the thyroid down so I would quit those for the time being.

Being foggy can usually mean 2 things- slow thyroid and or candida die off. Most people have this candida situation- Have you heard of it/??- most just say they are "detoxing" but I think it is specifically y a die off of something invadng the system.

Would you mind if i shared something with you Sharon?

two years ago, after eating all raw for 4 years...i started to lose my memory, get loose teeth, bleeding red gums, very dry skin, cramping in my legs, and restless leg pain, and i would switch off emotionally and i watched the man i love, crying in my arms, begging me not to leave him,and i didnt bat an eyelid(this pains me to tell anyone this,as its so shameful and not me by nature)...

all i can say is,i had been eating 811rv again for a whole 12 months, but took it to the next level, and ate no overt fats,i overtrained i underslept..and i stopped having my green juice....i dont in anyway want to dishonor those following 811..but unfortunately it doesnt work for me...*(FOR ME in case anyone missed that bit...

anyway theres more to the story.....i wont add that part up right now...maybe another time

sorry i digress...:)

anyway the last 12 months, all raw again 811rv...and at times no overt fats....started adding in green juices and wg juice again, the last 4 months, doing so gave me some improvement in my health...but in the last month i watched the same problems arise again, and the memory loss being the most worrying of all...

so with adjustments again...i am picking up memory wise and otherwise in less than a week, its wonderful,my energy has also improved...

what im getting at Sharon ,is find what works for you,and stick to your guns,no matter what people say to you...

im a recovering sufferer of ulcerative colitis,so this has probably more than a little to do with the fact that 811 and no overts fats didnt work so well for me...

i have added in ground flax the last 3 weeks, and finding it wonderful,im finding adding in the extra fat really helpful for health, perhaps try this, rather than the cooked proteins,(unless you are happy doing this of course?)lots of greens, blended, green juices wheatgrass juices, find the food that feeds your body..

i have been adding some hearty veg soups with my dinner salad and steamed vegs...and this is really helping me too(any 811rvs reading please dont tell me to eat more fruit...else i may green scream lol) i eat so much fruit always, and this has nothing to do with needing the extra nourishing from the cooked aspect of my diet now(which i decided to add in 4 days ago)...

anyway i hope some of this rambling message makes sense to you,and may help you a little Sharon xo

rawgreengoddess, thank you so much for sharing your story ;)

i agree with you that we each are different and our body responses are different to each other too.

i have found on the whole the diet i have chosen suits me very well, i love that its helped me to beat diabetes so quickly. now its just fine tunung it to meet my precise needs daily.

i have always eaten what my body asks for. i dont crave cooked animal proteins at all oddly enough, i thought i would but i dont at all.

i always ate fats, healthy ones even pre-raw days, perhaps finding ways to increase the fats consumption may help. i havent found a way to get ground flax yet. my processors wont touch it. and we cant afford a coffee grinder just yet.

as of yesterday i have stepped up my supergreen powder drinks now to 3 daily.

my husband is very supportive, and jokes that i take so many supplements that it would have been cheaper to get a dog lol!!! he has been a rock actually ;) thanks goodness we can afford supplements.

thanks so much for your reply ;)

not too much fat though sharon, cos this can make you feel even more foggy and vague...find that right balance for you,may take some fine tuning...

a coffee grinder is around 20$..and well worth grinding all nuts and seeds finely in it,when you can get one...

im not a fan of superfoods myself, but thats entirely your choice of course...

green juice is more beneficial i believe than adding a green powder into water or whatever,or i guess you could add it to your juice is you wanted too(green juice that is)..

do you exercise?sweat inducing oxygen pumping, lympathic draining exercise?do you own a rebounder/trampoline..this is also very good for health..

lots of water?do you read alot, this is good for brain function, playing game boy or play station or doing cross words is another goodie...

hope you find your balance and sparkling memory again soon xo

Hmm :)
In some ways i think ive experienced this occasionally myself. It may be abit more complex of an issue than not eating something i feel.

Sometimes my experience of raw food has been the total opposite, where i remember everything in perfect detail, but yes latley i suppose the way i remember things has changed.

I fasted recently, and my head was so clear that i was more present minded to my experiences & therefore my memory of the events i went through were greater. On a scale of 1-10, how present minded do you feel now? How is your ability to focus on just 1 object for an extended period of time, versus experiencing this moment in a peripheral way(which is great, you just need to be balanced between foveal + peripheral its like yin and yang), or feeling like your head is spread across the past & future as opposed to the present?

Ive eaten alot of almonds, avocado's, pumpkin seeds & even hemp seed meal(which is quite an awesome food i must say), and i think it helped just slightly on the present mindedness thing, but my experience of fasting recently was the main wake up call to me needing eat more calories from fruit instead of fat so that i could exercise more (like rebounding) so that i could clean out my lymph fluid from having been eating such cleansing food for so long that i havent had the chance to let it all go. So ive also been doing stuff like clay, internally & externally.

Energetically also i feel that my thyroid is stressed, my neck often feels tense & when i meditate to relax these two things, my present mindedness becomes very clear. In having fasted id given my body a break to do a housecleaning & my thyroid & neck in generally felt more relaxed, & also i think my lymph glands we're dealing with something, so i realised it was time to give my body a break. I mean i wasnt even hungry to eat, i was just eating out of habbit or a mental desire for 'more more more' when i should have just given myself a break.

Hope this perspective is at all helpful :)

phill, this is indeed more food for thought. i am of course trying to look at the big picture in all of this, and your prespective is very helpful, thankyou ;)

:) Well thats nice to know.

Skip thinking about the bit where i mention the calories thing though(cause thats specifc to me only), i only mentioned that because i actually had NO desire at all to exercise because i just ate way too much fat at one point in my life. Im not suggesting that this has much to do with the present mindedness thing, other than the brain requiring glucose, & My favourite exercise latley is actually just simply jumping. Its kinda like shaking things off and letting it go. Whenver i suggest something i like it to be from experience + quite easily practical & somewhat universal as i know theres quite a few people who read these comments.
I dont mean to be perscriptive i mean. :)

I think tonight ive also made the connection between meditation, which is kind of a sensory/mental fasting to explore the inner world which is somewhat past-based, and fasting so that the blood can become thinner than the lymph so that the lymph can clean out.

Best of wishes in finding your solution! :):):)

thanks again phill, i like your attitude ;) i like to try and play golf a few times a week, hubby and i have been working very hard trying to improve our game this year (its my first year out and im not very good at it yet ;) ) i have found i manage energy better if i eat some carbohydrates and fats before i go out. im experimenting with raw grains at the moment.

my husband teaches meditation (that how we met lol)) we havent spent much time practicing this summer, i feel i need to get back into it again.it might even help my golf as well lol
