Question: What are your goals, visions and ambitions for 2009? Be specific. What would you like to create? What you would like to manifest?
All answers are welcome!
Personal Goals. Professional / Business Goals. Material Goals. Health Goals. Spiritual Goals. Relationship Goals.
Bring them on!
The Power of Creation
It's easy to talk about what's wrong with the world. What's wrong is all around us, especially if we are very new to this journey of transformation.
When most people first learn about raw food, a lot of their attention tends to get caught up in how fucked up the world is. Corptisim, Food Lobbies, the Government, the Shadow Government.. etc
Naturally, when someone becomes very fixated on 'what's wrong', they start to ask them self, "Who's to blame?"
I'm all about accountability, but when most of your energy is focused on 'what's wrong' and 'who's to blame', what ends up happening is that you loose your ability to Create. After all, why create something if the world is so fucked up? Why do anything expect complain?
Yes, the world is very challenging at times. Yes, there is a lot of suffering on Earth. BUT!!! There is also a lot of good. There is a lot of joy. And more than ever, more than any other time in the history of our planet, there is a lot of opportunity to transform.
However, you can't transform a situation with just criticism, you have to Create.
Goal Setting is part of the science of Creation. Goal Setting is part of the process of getting clear about what you want, what you want to give and what you want to stand for.
"What's wrong with the world" is a start. That statement gets you clear on the first step, "What you don't want." But you have to go further. Just knowing what you don't want isn't enough. You have to know what you want.
When I say "want", many of you hear "material want". Although that might be part of goal setting, it is the least important part. The most important part is, "What do you want to stand for?"
A Small Personal Testimony
Three years ago I became very clear that I wanted to stand for Community. I saw that the number one reason people didn't follow through with a healthy lifestyle was because they felt they were alone. So, upon making that distinction, I chose to create something. I chose to create Community.
Today I run a couple of the most supportive sites on the web related to raw food. The sites I run are also (
I'm pretty sure) the most visited sites on the web in terms of traffic (related to raw food). The sites provide a nice income and will continue to provide even more income now that I've been working full time on them. The events I throw are almost always packed, I often vacation for free (by hosting retreats for others), and I'm friends with almost every major raw and holistic health author/chef out there.
I have friends all around the world and people who I haven't even met who email me telling me that I've been a major factor in their health / spiritual journey.
I have no boss and no schedule other than the one I set.
And I feel like I've
just stated.
All this started with a simple goal - one of many goals I have. "Create the most visited, supportive, authentic, transparent websites in the space of raw food, earn income from it and have fun in the process."
[Since originally setting this goal a few years ago, I have evolved it further.]
This goal may seem trivial to you. It may seem boring. That's fine. This was my goal, something that mattered to me. It doesn't matter what the goal is, as long as it matters to you.
The point of this post isn't for me to toot my own horn. I rarely talk about these things unless I'm trying to make a point. And that point is I want you to Create. I want you to set goals. And I want you to focus on what's possible.
Not because it's fun (which it is). Not because it will bring you success (which it will). But because it's your responsibility.
It's your responsibility to make the planet a better place. It's your responsibility to take what you know about healthy living, eco living, spiritual living and all those other good things and share it.
There are people out there that are ready to being their journey of transformation, they just need a guide. Someone to make it easier for them to start or easier for them to keep going.
Could that be you? Maybe!
Goal Setting
1) Set specific goals stated in the positive.
2) Not just in your head, put them on paper!
3) Review them regularly to stay inspired and to make sure they still speak to you.
4) Repeat.
Of course action is needed as well ; )
