Give it to me Raw

Update: Alright guys, not trying to kill conversation, but this thread has said all that needs or can be said. If you want to talk about this further, startup a new thread. Cheers!

This morning I chose to remove Durian Rider from GI2MR.

If you've been here for long, you know that we've had a few incidents with DR on GI2MR. If you ask DR rider about these incidents he'll say that we have something against 80-10-10.

That couldn't be further from the truth. I regularly recommend the online community 30 Bananas a Day (which DR and Freela started) to people who want more info on 80-10-10. In fact, when Freela was first setting up the 30 Bananas A Day community she asked me for advice on building communities and I gladly helped.

So this isn't some sort of "raw conspiracy" even though I have a feeling that DR will try to make it sound that way.

So what is this about? This is about being a nice, decent human being and respectful to others.

DR, especially in the last 2 weeks, has repeatedly attacked members of this community with his "80-10-10 or die" message. To spread what he is up to, he puts others down. That's his style and that's fine, but it doesn't work for us at Gi2MR anymore.

In his mind, DR thinks he is being "revolutionary" and "uncompromising", but his mentor, Dr Doug Graham, who is a friend of mine, would never act the way DR is acting. Putting others down to lift his message up.

As an example: In a recent posting about Anthony Anderson, the Raw model, durian wrote:

"look at that pic of anthony 'crying' with his 10k$ perfect white teeth.. poor anthony had to 'resort' to eating animal products cos he couldnt imagine victoria boutenko in a bathing suit.."

Ask yourself, "Would you want to be friends with this guy?"

Not me and not many others at GI2MR. So, DR, it's time to go.

Wish you the best of luck at 30BD. I love Freela and love what she is up to. If you want a new 80-10-10 roll model hit Freela up. Or hit up my buddy George Wiggins who is also eats 80-10-10 and is a deeply compassionate soul. Just email me and I'll introduce you to him.

For those that don't like the fact we've removed DR from this site, you are more than welcome to express your opinion here. We may not agree, but I will hear you out.

Thanks for your thoughts Wendy.
Unsupported by the facts. 10 minutes on the general discussion board will indicate otherwise.
Dhrumil,

Thank you for removing DR and addressing the surrounding issues. I actually was considering leaving the site altogether, because the reasons I had initially joined were no longer present here. I came here for support, encouragement, and open-mindedness. I am on a healing journey, looking for truth, not blindly following an aggressive out-of-touch fruit eater who thinks he is some kind of guru.

Like many people, I came into raw food because of my health. Like many people here, I am learning what works and what doesn't. For me, high fruit ended in a total disaster. And instead of being able to draw support from the GITMR community, I sat back and witnessed battles over ego and in many cases an aggressiveness around 80-10-10. The more presence DR established here, the less I came back to the site.

Many of us are in deep with health crises, and with an open mind we are trying to keep ourselves afloat trying whatever works, whatever supports us. A healing community spirit does not ignore the personal accounts of what has worked and what hasn't, and certainly would not attack us when we find something that brings us relief from disease.

I have one more observation.

I have witnessed--here and elsewhere--that 80-10-10 is the most reactive and pushy community I have ever encountered in diet, and that includes my raw vegan animal advocate friends. Never do I see primal dieters or any other sub-group push so hard to "convert" you, ignore what your experience has been, and chalk up every disasterous symptom to "detox" rather than examine potential flaws of the diet.

I can tell you that when I was on high fruit, even I was very reactive and defensive too. I did not want to know that something might be wrong with the diet.

It is not my intent to attack the 80-10-10 diet, even though it did not work for me. But I have felt crowded out, pushed around, and even ignored by many 80-10-10 advocates.

I hope this site is able to restore its bright and nurturing energy and make space for all types of diet.

Blessings.

High fruit will be a problem if you're also eating high fat.
Mark, your reply is what I mean about there not being room for those of us who got sick on high-fruit diets--LOW fat.

I knew someone would post something about the high-fat thing, because every time someone mentions that 80-10-10 doesn't work, someone comes to defend it. It's either "too much fat" or the problems are "detox."

Why is that?

If I say it didn't work, someone tells me I didn't do 80-10-10 properly. I don't see that kind of defensiveness happening with other diets.

Is it that hard to believe that the diet makes people sick? This makes me feel like this site is an 80-10-10 site.

Is this Give It To Me 80-10-10 or Give It To Me Raw?

Now, I could go on about the dangers of 80-10-10--they are well documented--but I am not here to win a debate.

I'm here for encouragement on the diet that does work.
Well I don't know. What problem did you have with fruit? Are you on a high fat diet now? If not, where do you get your calories?

I don't see any other way but 80/10/10. If someone could logically show another way for the human, I would be open to it.

What dangers would they be? I suppose we'll have to go eating high fat. Is that safe? Maybe clogging cooked grains? Where do we get our calories on a raw diet if not fruit or fat?

What diet works? Enlighten me.
Oh my God, Mark, you're going be the next Durian Rider! Aren't you?
Bingo.
Indeed.
You know, I'm asking a serious question. Why don't you answer it?
I was glad to see him here. He feels that it's his duty to speak out against the nonsense and evils that he sees in this so-called movement.
That pretty much summarizes who would stay on this site, and who would leave. It's not about taking the heat, it's about allowing the truth to emerge. Allowing people to tell their story, and not denying the validity of their experience.

Without that, what's the point of coming here? I can watch reality TV if I need a dose of meanness, narrow-mindedness, condemnation, and antagonism.
