How do you release/vent out negative emotions flooding your mind?

Any mental and/or physical exercises or practices that you love to implement to let go of negativity around? How have you trained your mind, body and soul to wear layers of firewalls around negative forces circling around?

If you are asked to name five or ten practices (not in any order though), which would be they?

Lately I've been repeating affirmations to myself, breathing (consciously, when I remember), eating mostly raw (and now am going to focus more on vegetables and less on fruits!), and its been helping. Deepening my resolve to remain positive and RAISE THE VIBRATION OF MY CONSCIOUSNESS is transformative. I'm doing it right now. That's the most all-inclusive thing I can intend, which will lead me towards more specific practices for more specific results.

There must be specific chants designed to release negativity. I encountered some in a yoga book I saw at a crystal exhibition last week... they were actually great. I intend to learn them soon, once I do I can relay you the information.

Being in nature like others mentioned, is great. I often feel a huge shift in myself near the giant trees and in the clear air... just let it all go... scream... sing... shake off the sludge.

Here's a technique my qigong healer taught me. It's very effective at shifting negative emotions quickly. Each of the Chinese words had a different energetic resonance.

You can use it whenever you feel something negative coming on and you can also use it to heal past issues- just focus on the issue until you really feel some emotion.

Here's the technique:

Take 3 deep breaths- in through nose, out through mouth.
Evaluate your feelings- how strong are they on a scale of 1-10?
Where in your body do you feel it?

Focus on the emotion and begin saying the following words while tapping the top of your head once per word with all five fingers:

Song, Kong, Tong, Bing, Chan, Yu.

I like to emphasize the "Bing" because that is the word that breaks up the emotional pattern and scatters it:)

Do 3-9 rounds of tapping and continue by repeating the process on the forehead, between eyebrows.
Repeat process on the breastbone.
Repeat process an inch below the belly button.

Now, take 3 breaths and evaluate the emotion. Is it lower on the scale?
Go through the process again until your emotions rate a 0 and you feel calm and peaceful. You may even feel energy tingling through your body if you have a big release. You also might start yawning as things release.

What this does is call energy in to break up the patterns and establish harmonious ones.

If you ever get a chance for someone to do a energy healing on you, do it!! Last Saturday, I got my first energy healing done, I was very skeptical bc I wasn't to sure what to expect. After 45 mins of my body tingling and feeling like I was floating, I opened my eyes and I was overwhelmed with emotion, I wanted to cry bc I felt so happy, which I haven't felt in awhile. In fact I haven't had a bad day since I got it done, I feel more grounded and intuned with myself. Which is probally the reason I took the plunge on Monday to go 100% RAW--today is my 5th day and I feel great!! I know this high probally won't last forever so I'm trying my best to learn how to meditate but its so hard for me to bc it seems like my mind won't stop chattering and I get restless! But before I got my the energy healing done--when I was overcome with negativity, I would just take deep breathes and like Susan said force yourself to be happy..

The power of prayers always works, if prayers are coming out of the deep layers of the heart as a tone of atonement. Prayers would pacify our minds, clear our thoughts and would assist us in letting go of negative emotions surrounding our psyche. Prayers would motivate us to forgive others and ask the divine powers to enable us to forget the negativity and the pain. Self-affirmations also would work wonders.

My parents also practise healing through Reiki. In the process of healing others, I guess they must be healing themselves, too.

lately ive raised myself effectively out of a deep, on-going depression, through:
meditation (i actually use holosync sound therapy and have had great success,)
affirmations (i read 'you can heal your life' by louise hays and i love it,)
lots of journal writing,
bach flower remedies,
bringing more physical movement into my life
getting up earlier in the morning
using a s.a.d. lamp
... i make all these things a daily morning ritual.

im feeling lovely lately :)

Aililu have you gotten to hear any of the Abraham Hicks stuff--they are masters--very life enhancing. Like louise but a little more in depth.

Dynamic meditation is amazing! It is a meditation where for 10 mins you breathe chaotically, then you go mad throw yourself round the room, get out EVERYTHING, then for 10 minutes you jump up and down, and then for 15 minutes freeze and are still, and feel beautiful peace, ahhh, and then for 20 mins dance and celebrate. It really clears everything out, here's a link:

There are loads of Osho meditation methods on that website and he liked to use movement as a way of getting rid of emotions and thoughts because he says that Westerners just can't start out sitting still and meditating, the best way for a Westerner to gain inner peace is through chaotic movement etc...Another one I saw on there was simply for 15 minutes pretend to be an animal, really let go into it and be like the animal of your choice and lose yourself in it. That would be great, I'd be a dog and just bark all my tension out ;))

Also if you write down everything uncensored that you think in a ten minute period it helps...you'll see how insane your thoughts are and forget about them, it makes them seem silly. When they are in your head they seem so important....

And dancing...I love to dance madly at least once a day, it totally shifts me. I will dance to anything as long as it is loud and has a lot of bass. I love belly dance because you get to wear a hip scarf with metal coins on it so you can make a noise along with the music. Dancing is a sure fire way to release tension. Or I'll go to a nightclub and get right in the middle of the dancefloor where all the people are really ''aving it!' off their heads on drugs and I'm on pure water and nothing else having just as much of a release as they are, dancing together is such good fun. It is so ancient, so primeval to dance together, it makes all my worries disappear for days afterwards.

After the third or fourth day I seem to function better then when I am eating heavy meals. My last fast I was walking eveyday. I just feel great when I am fasting.
