Friendship
Often when look back on our year we recognize that the highlights almost always come in the form of insights and friendships. This post is about the latter.

True Friends, be they real world or virtual, have the ability to remind us of our higher potential, inspire us to take action and lift us up when we've fallen down.

We're use to recognizing and appreciating physical friends. It's part of the human tradition of community. But it's a little tougher to recognize and appreciate online friends. Often the very people who have inspired us have no idea they've done so. We could read their daily blogs, skim their forum topics and watch their videos without any trace of an interaction. But, even though their might not be a trace of physical interaction, we can't deny for a moment that transformation has occurred.

This discussion is about honoring that person or those people that have helped you along your journey.

I have so many people that I'd like to thank, but I'll start with just one right now.

I'd like to recognize Charles Balcer.

For his ability to calm a tense situation with his humor.
For his passion for green living and all the great links he posts about what's happening in the world.
For the countless hours he's spent investing in this community and welcoming new members.
For recognizing that life is so much more than just food.
For sharing so openly both the good times and the challenging times he's going through with us.

Thanks Charles

I will always be grateful to Charles for extending his hand in friendship and inviting me and my husband to our first gathering to meet other 'real' raw foodists in NYC. I attribute so much of my success to this community, and he helped make this lifestyle a tangible reality. I also am extremely thankful for my friends Mae, Toni, and Angelina for providing me with hours of conversation, laughter, and support. <3

I am super, super, super appreciative of Adam and Jason. Adam is a fountain of information and delivers it so pleasantly. Jason is going to be my guide in building the most awesome hydroponic growing room EVER. I appreciate their willingness to answer myriad questions and in great length.

P.S. - Thank you for creating this gathering place for an awesome community, Dhru!

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
