Hi there -

How are you? Where in Michigan are you located? I am in a similar situation.
Take care - Karolina (Commerce Twp)

Hi Karolina! I'm in Newaygo County; Fremont to be exact. My job has me traveling a bit so I get to GR, Ann Arbor and Traverse City now and again.

Where do you shop? Do you eat out? How raw/vegan are you?

Thanks for the reply.

I used to live in Traverse City- there is a nice co-op there called Oryana Co-op on 10th. St.
Ann Arbor has the People's Co-op downtown and a nice Whole Foods on Washtenaw Ave.
When I lived in Grand Haven, I used to go to Apple Valley health food store in GR.

I was just up in Traverse City. Two other places worth going: Serenity Cafe really cool place across the street from the State Theater on Front St. and Home Grown Organic Eatery.

Where do you live now?

Thanks

I forgot about Serenity- I went there last Aug. and it was great. I haven't been to Home Grown yet.
I love Traverse City:) I get up there once or twice a year. My brother lives in the area. I lived there until I was 11 and then I moved to Grand Haven (also lovely).
I'm in Nashville TN- I moved here 11 years ago.
I bet that MI is quite the culture shock for you!

I just remembered- GR has a veg. restaurant called Gaia Coffee House on Diamond St.

Welcome Rural Raw. I'm from Kalamazoo and approximately 80% raw and 98% vegan. What part of Michigan are you from? Besides the obvious weather difference, what do you think of Michigan so far and if you don't mind me asking why the change of scenery?

I've lived in Chicago for 5 years so not that new to the mid west. No smog, no blackberry, no traffic, etc...Where in Kalamazoo do you shop? Eat? Socialize?

Do you have any kids?

Thanks for the reply.

Most of my produce comes from Meijers. They are getting more and more organic produce all the time. This helps to keep some of my costs down. I purchase my cacao, goji berries and other things that I cannot get from Meijers at the Coop downtown on Burdick Street. As far as restaurants, I have been trying, when possible, to check out new places for at least vegan, if not raw, foods. Burdick's Downtown makes a great veggie wrap that comes with slices of melon and pineapple for around $8. I just stopped in their yesterday. Their is Food Dance, which is also downtown just down the street from Burdick's. I just found out about a place on Stadium Drive called Sprout Restaurant that I plan to try out. We used to have a Salad Bar Restaurant but they seem to have closed. I occasionally will get a pizza from Papa Murphy's down the street from me and have them put all kinds of fruits and veggies on it. They are pretty good about letting me add something in place of the cheese at no cost.

I haven't had/taken a lot of time to socialize for a while as my wife and I obtained temporary custody of our two grandchildren earlier this year. As much as we love them they take up a good part of our 'spare time'. I just recently posted some pictures on my Facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=729570701&ref=profile
They are my son and daughter-in-laws children but are having issues (they are both mentally ill). My son is 20 and my daughter is 22.

Thanks for the post.

I live in southeastern Michigan north of A2.
We shop at a variety of grocery stores and markets to get the freshest, organic whole foods. Eastern Market is one of my favorite in downtown Detroit. Walking through "Whole Foods" in A2 or West Bloomfield can be enjoyable as long as I accept it will be "whole paycheck." I also stop into check out the organic produce at Busches and VGs.

i second this. also in eastern market area is the "detroit evolution lab" which offers nice vegan/raw vegan food, classes, yoga and bodywork. i'm in the detroit area and don't get outside it too much :) except for whole foods.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. I'll have to check these paces out when I'm back in Detroit.

In NYC, petite models are pretty hard to book, because there are so few! I know one, Miss Asian America and she's constantly busy doing commercials! Shorties are goodies lol
