Ok, i'm providing way too much tmi, but here goes:
does anyone get wickedly constipated right before their period?
Although I'm not 100% yet, I'm eating a lot more fruits and veggies and my system has been pretty regular until a few days ago, when things began moving sloooowly. And bam! then i get my period. this has been the case for a long while, but i thought this would change as I moved into raw.
How much water do you drink? I used to find myself more suseptable to dehydration around my period. I am in Malaysia at the moment eating loads of durian & surrounded by more pollution then im used to so my water intake averages 4litres a day. Usually I average about 3litres a day in Australia or more depending on my activity levels, the atmosphere, what im eating etc.
Some of the cooked foods you are still eating will be dehydrating you, how much water do you get when you put a peice of bread through a juicer?
Not much and to digest concentrated cooked foods properly the water must come from somewhere ....it will be drawn from your bodies reserves....do you find you make better or worse food choices around your period? That might answer your question.
Every function in the body depends on your hydration levels, drink up and before long you will be visiting the loo .
I've been getting about a liter a day, but I think that's not nearly enough. So that's one of the things I'm looking at. 4-5 Liters seems to be more of what I need in general and especially during my period.
From what it sounds like, water is a great idea. How about the bananas you are eating? I saw that your favorite smoothie is orange, banana and spinach (yum =D). If the bananas aren't really ripe yet (little brown spots on them), they can cause things to slow down - ya know what I mean?
Also, if you increase your fiber intake around that time, it may help as well. Do you have a dehydrator? I have a great flax cracker demo up on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/primmitiv. Flax is great for increasing your intestinal motivation =D (as long as you're drinking enough water)...
Something else that made a HUGE impact for me around that ''time of the month'' was once I started colon hydrotherapy. I just had auntie flo come to visit (this is the first month since I got my first 6 colonic treatments last month), and we had no problems this month. Barely even any cramps, and the small amount that I did get were just on the first day. There are so many other benefits to it than that, too. I'll spare you, though. If you would like to know more about CH, I would be happy to share, though =D
Hi Andrea,
Yea my first point of "attack" is to greatly increase my water intake. And increasing my fiber is the next step I didn't know that unripe bananas could slow the system down. Thanks for that info.
I've been getting colon hydrotherapy for a couple of years now although not as much due to dinero. But i'm curious to hear about your experiences and the benefits you've felt using it. Feel free to send me a private message.

Yeah, never much thought at the time though as it was late at night and had been about 40 degrees here. Oh well. I am so familiar with the way the Engish and Irish talk that I just assume everyone is the same with the kiwis and Aussies.

RGG,
the belly-centered symptoms that most people (mistakenly) call hunger usually pass within 2-3 days. Your body is not hungry while fasting because it gets all of its needs met from its own reserves.
Weeds, Outrageous Fortune (great kiwi comedy) Kath and kim (aussie) the office (UK) United states of Tara. There are alot really when I think about it. There are alot of great tv writers out there now but I am not into reality tv shows.

Another way to think about this is that "frugivore" is a word used by scientists to describe any animal that eats a fruit-based diet (including virtually all of the anthropoid primates). "Frugivore" has an accepted scientific definition. "Fruitari...
Hi Priyam and RGG,
Even blending them is a big step down in quality from eating them whole, for a number of reasons. The pre-chewing argument -- often heard -- doesn't really carry much weight as the benefit of chewing in the mouth is that any re...
Try this. I found out about it when I worked at Jubbs longevity. There is absolutely no aftertaste and a bottle lasts forever. I've been using it for years. Lucky Vitamin has amazing prices on many things too.
