Give it to me Raw

I'm planning on doing my first colonic sometime this month, what advice would you give in order to get the most out a colonic session?

I’ve never gotten one before but I have considered it. It’s recommended that you eat a light meal and drink plenty of water beforehand. In the week approaching, avoid constipating food and eat plenty of fibre. If you’re on a raw diet this shouldn’t be a problem for you anyway.

Like someone said, be 100% sure that you want to do this before you go ahead with it. A lot of raw foodists are vehemently against colonic irrigation. The body cleanses itself naturally, provided you are giving it the right foods. It has been speculated that people who undergo regular colonic treatments become less adept to detox naturally, as the body becomes dependant on the colonics to cleanse.

thank you, I'm definitely going to put more thought into it.

Relax as much as you can before and whilst having it done. it would be best for elimination and relaxation if you fasted or just juiced on the days prior to it.
I think around now (start of spring) is the best time to have one, I had my first one last march and have them at the changing of the seasons since.
I find them so cleansing and refreshing, they literally take a load off you and leave you glowing and lighter.
I've heard before that at the new and full moons are the best times to have them to erradicate any parasitic activity as this is when they hatch or whatever.
Embrace and enjoy this new experience as mch as you can.
And take probiotics afterwards as you don't want to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Hey Rubii,
Thanks for the advice, which probiotic would you recommend post-colonic? Mine is on Friday and I am totally psyched!!

ok..firsts things first.

I would definitely not listen to anyone who has no experience or idea what they are talking about.

there are two ways to think about this.

either you want to continue with your current diet/program and thus use the colonic (generally you do some kind of dietary consulting, as the practictioner can see how your body is handling foods, whether there is fermentation, chronic gas or candida etc..)...to troubleshoot. ie pursue a more appropriate, possibly cleaner or just better structured approach that is kinder to your system...or more cleansing...whatever you desire

or

you can do some kind of accelerated process..like fasting or light eating, juice fasting etc...to get more from your treatment.

I would definitely choose the first, and have your experience and leave the latter for some other point

as for the day before/ day of. It depends what time your appointment is..Safest bet is to keep the densest thing in your diet an avocado...so juices, frutis/avos/salads.. no nut/seeds within a 24 hour period. don't do anything day of if possible...maybe melons, juice etc..

certainly don't do anything 2-3 hours before.not even water, unless you feel very dehydrated. if it was in the AM..I would just get up and go empty. its always good to have a movement beforehand..so if a little water or juice whatever helps with that first thing in the morning than that is good.

afterwards:.plenty of h20 then vegetable juice (very important)...the practitioner will probably school you on that.

good luck!

thanks so much. I must confess that i've been raw food binging the past few days. how long do you think I should just eat fresh fruits and veggies before I get the colonic done? is two weeks sufficient?

hmm...I really wouldn't sweat it. I really think you should do what you think is your average routine that you find fairly healthy. hopefully the treatment will help assist/understand the binging stuff. perhaps you arn't eating enough of the fruits and veg..or it could be emotional stuff..or toxins/mineral issues..who knows.

I think a strict fruit/veg 'fast' is unnecessary, but if its easy for you to do so...and you think will correct your food issues..and not exacerbate them by imposing strict rules, that inevitably get broken...go to it. some people think the denser material: nuts/seeds actually are good for elimination. I have mixed thoughts on that.

I would focus on the few days prior...thats when the binging thing could be a major issue. Prior that, stay full/satisfied. be kind to yourself.

I have done most of my treatments with someone who is well considered to be a master. my personal belief is that alot of the deep cleansing takes place in the realm of energy work/ massage. Even the old school Natural Hygiene guys will speak of this. the "laying on of the hands". without this, done by a novice..yeah you are probably just giving yourself a heavy duty flushing, but also - hopefully - getting out various carbon gases that don't leave the body very easily, even through enemas. I've experimented some with enemas and doing my own energy work (focusing on various parts of my body, and *blowing* out blockages with oxygen/thought) with some good results. At the moment I am doing neither. But I think overall my experiences have been positive, even necessary.

I think people have alot of misconception on the process, I'm not trying to convince anyone that its something they HAVE to do ( I know some therapists believe this) on an 100% raw and cleansing diet. It depends on the approach and generally its not related at all to how much fiber they are eating, how many times they ar crapping etc..although if these things are NOT working..could be an indicator that a colonic woud also be helpful. Eating a lighter diet..generally brings up more toxin. not having symptoms is in itself a symptom.

I wasn't trying to be snooty with my : many reasons not to do colonics remark. its true. some people probably don't know what they are doing. I have had duds..I personally think all the rumors about it being damaging to the linings and such are false, except if their is something not 100% correct with the equipment ( a possibility). as for the bacteria..that couldvery well be an issue, I have heard that it repopulates quite quickly, but you are choosing one persons idea over another. probiotics seem like a solution but who kows..the previous bacteria could be more well suited to your body/more acclimated. As for any kind of psychic pain or invasiveness. Thats really up to the individual. if someone has never done it, how would they know? It IS unnatural/medicine/therapy .

A food log is a great idea! I hope that you can isolate the cause. They didn't hurt or itch or anything like that, but they didn't look right. At first I thought it was skin cancer or something! I looked up petechiae as Eric recommended in the co...

Yes- they're called petechiae and I've always heard that they are liver-related. They can also be due to anemia and low platelet count. If you also bruise easily, that might be the likely cause. I get them too and they come and go.

I really believe that is possible to heal all of the body...regeneration of tissue is not a far fetched concept. There is a case of a man who re-grew a finger, recently! I have to dig to find the article, but I read it on naturalnews.com. Mind you...
