Give it to me Raw

I'm currently going through a detoxing period, which has made me calmer and more peaceful (I can be prone to anxiety and other strong negative emotions). Today when I was sipping my tea and looking at my little indoor plants (aloe vera, two succulents, bamboo, an air plant) and I though about how peaceful plants are. I thought of the "Everything I need to know I learned from my dog/my cat/my child/in kindergarten/etc." lists and I thought why not have a "Everything I need to know I learned from my plant(s)"? I feel that that title is a little hokey, so I prefer "Plantisms". Here's a few that I thought of:

Enjoy your time in the sun

Drink lots of water

Enjoy peaceful music

Grow towards what nourishes you

Be Patient. Growth is a gradual, lifelong process (I'm personally focusing especially on this one, as I'm naturally not a very patient person, and I tend to be a perfectionist who expects to become perfect RIGHT NOW!...lol )

Do you have any to add? I'd love to see this list grow!

sounds interesting.

Plantisms:

~live in harmony with your surroundings
~make the world a better place by just being yourself
~diversity should be appreciated not feared
~stand tall through life's storms and it will help you to grow stronger
~practicing stillness can be a beautiful thing

~take care of nature and let nature take care of you in return
~like the bamboo, it is often good to just go with the flow; better to sway than to resist the battering winds
~like spores, lovingly release your desires to the wind knowing that they will take root and bear new life
~you have healing power within

This posting reminds me of a community art project I participated in during the North Charleston Art Festival last year with my friend Arianna King-Comer, a well known batik artist. We had people write, in wax, their feelings about trees on dyed fabic for an upcoming art project called " The Coversation Tree". We then over-dyed the fabric to create a batik " bark" panel The goal of the project is to have the "Conversation Tree" speak truth and tell its own story.

One of my fondest memories was when a young girl walked into the room bursting with happy energy and was just dying to write something down. What did she write? Only one word-- Photosynthesis. That one important word that is so vital for life on earth.

So, I am going to borrow from her and add my own "plantism" : Learn to treasure photosynthesis for, without it, life would not be.
