Give it to me Raw

dinner: raw pumpkin, squash and sweet potato marinated with loads of garlic, olive oil, sundried tomatoes, tomatoes, herbs. together with salad(avo, sesame, sunflower seeds and sprouts++)
then some choko with goji, maca and chili.

suddenly my stomach was a mess. no further details... x_O

i'm new to raw food, so i'm not sure of what you can and what you should not eat in raw form. anyone know where i went wrong? too much fat? or was it the marinated vegetables? or too much garlic??

heeehh...

I definitely would have to agree with other posts suggesting a more simple approach to meals. If you're looking to mimic the hearty feeling of cooked foods I'd suggest a more simple raw lasagna or perhaps a raw tomato soup.
If you really like the more dense veggies I'd suggest blending them into a soup as well.
But simplicity it key, especially when starting out and experimenting with foods.

Best of luck in avoiding tummy aches in the future!

oils impair digestion. garlic, or well the root inside the garlic clove is often hard for people to digest and you also had a lot of fat mixed with tomatoes - badddd combo dude! feel better!

DETALJER!! :D

yes, but if you copy and paste it will work :) You need the (small) part in the back as well.

yup. marte.
hehe. thanks for all the answers.

the thing that confuses me a bit is than neither my hubby or my four year old had the same problems. sooo i'm not sure if i think there was a problem with too many ingredients. we're used to eat salads with a lot of stuff. but it can be all the starch/hard to digest stuff- i ate a lot more than the others, finished the rest in the evening, the fact that i hadn't eaten anything for 9 hours, my chocomayhem in the night...or as someone suggest-detox. had headache as well and felt like crap

don't have any of the conditions you mentioned. but i most likely have candida. could that be it?

anyway. i'll be careful now. this was basically too much for me. first time i ate pumpkin and sweet potato. first time with so many sun dried tomatoes. second time with raw choco. raw cacao is ok, but i guess the cacaobutter is kikkin'...too much raw garlic.

too much new stuff and too much hard to digest, too much garlic and sun dried t, with a splash of detox. i'll go with that:D

and be more careful next time.

You're suppose to be able to pick the leaf out of the middle - and it comes out realllllllll easy - if it's ripe. It should smell ripe too.

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
