Give it to me Raw

dinner: raw pumpkin, squash and sweet potato marinated with loads of garlic, olive oil, sundried tomatoes, tomatoes, herbs. together with salad(avo, sesame, sunflower seeds and sprouts++)
then some choko with goji, maca and chili.

suddenly my stomach was a mess. no further details... x_O

i'm new to raw food, so i'm not sure of what you can and what you should not eat in raw form. anyone know where i went wrong? too much fat? or was it the marinated vegetables? or too much garlic??

heeehh...

before i ate dinner?.. i hadn't had anything since breakfast. 9 hours before...ups..i forget to eat sometimes:/
and i was happy about the dinner. one of my first real rawfood dinners, and it was ready on the table when my hubby and oldest daughter came home from school and kindergarden. no negative emotions, if that's what you mean...?

raw garlic really messes up my stomach...maybe that was the culprit.

hehe. no way it can put me off!

i tried these vegetables, cause i need something more..uhm..heavy? more like a 'normal' meal- and i don't want to eat loads of nuts. that's one thing a don't understand about the rawfood recipies. the amount of nuts used. gives me a headache.
but living here in norway, and as a chronic freezer, i need something more than salad, cabbage, kale, brokkoli and all that stuff. light food, such as fruits, makes me sooo cold. need yang!

I just know if I ate what you just ate I would not live to talk about it lol. So much fiber and hard to digest veggies. I'm not sure the squashes and stuff should be eaten raw but lots of people do so who knows. It could be that. Or the fact that you ate almost 20 ingredients in one meal. You could never know which thing bothered you. Try eating the squash marinated with just olive oil and herbs. If you get the same problems then it's most likely the squash.

Simple is best, and once you've been eating fresh raw food for awhile you will start to appreciate the flavours more and won't need to drown them in all that other stuff.

And in MY opinion, garlic is more for medicinal purposes than an actual food item. It's not meant to be eaten everyday, or used as a flavouring.

Strange you should bring this up...no pun intended..sorry. Could it possibly be the goji? Three times in the past month and a half I have gotten sick on goji. First I thought it was a bug then I ate some more from the same bag a couple weeks later, same thing happened. Thought it was just a bad batch but then again today. I bought a brand new bag with a different manufacturer and everything and once again back up they came within two hours. I don't know if I am allergic or what seeing that I currently have not a single allergy. Just a thought...although, you did do alot of combining. But that is my experience. Hope you feel better.

hmmm could be. It's almost like they are toxic to me. I did find some info on a google search about others having this same reaction but it's not a common enough reaction that there is any real info about it. I just know that that was definately my last ditch try with goji berries.

usually with me, garlic, olive oil and tomatoes combined make for an extended stay in the bathroom. If I follow that with chocolate I'm callin out of work the next day lol! even just tomatoes mixed with the chocolate would be an irritant to the GI

OK felicia, "suddenly my stomach was a mess. no further details... x_O". And,

"I'm new to raw food".....

It Sounds like what most call detox! I went to Hippocrates Health Institute last spring and most people apparently go through detox there first week of being there. This happened to me. Every one's symptoms very though I think most have nausea. I only vomited once some light green water. Green because of the green food. There are many different symptoms. And they are claimed to be from toxins accumulated through out your lifetime being released into your bloodstream now that you are eating clean and/or ideal food for your body and now leaving room for your body to eliminate the toxins.

Cooking changes foods causing unideal conditions for digestion and even creates toxins possibly leaving them unbalanced. It is known that the body releases an immune response (as it does also when injured by something) into the digestive system only when cooked food is eaten.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned The so-called Detox yet.

Simple I do believe could help. Also good combinations.

As I have observed at Hippocrates If you've been eating a lot of cooked food it is more likely to experience detox symptoms. This I now believe this is what happened to me when I ate my first all raw meal at a raw food dinner meetup. My drive home and night was nauseous.

I've had that experience with both pumpkin and cacao on their own.

Might not be the best options for you, at least in the quantity that you consumed. (This is given that you are having the same experience that I had.)

Otherwise, food combining, which it turns out, is an art-form :)

All that said, what do I know...I'll just offer my own experiences.

Take care!

I love apples too! I made a "killer-Raw-Apple-Pie" last week, with different kind of apples in it. It was so good I can't stop thinking about it. The panda-bear in the pic is soooo cute! Did you take the picture yourself?
