I am a new RAW (2 weeks) Vegan (108 days) and I have a quick question. I would love to read more about this incredible journey that I am on but I am not sure where to begin. There are so many things out there and I am just looking to my RAW family for some advice. What do you suggest???
Excellent! Congratulations Twinkier. I'd second the two books Scott just mentioned. I read those a little later down the line I guess--but that's just a matter of timing for me personally and getting in touch with what came before me first. The first raw literature I ever read were the Ann Wigmore books. Now there are so many excellent authors on the subject that I feel like it's just good to begin reading, and keep reading, and keep seeing how your body responds...it's a great journey.

There are a lot of books out there, some that are helpful, and some that are pretty low quality.
I think one of the best books by far is Cherie Soria's "The Raw Revolution Diet." It has two co-authors who are nutritionists. Cherie owns Living Light Culinary Arts Institute. So, she's about as connected as could be.
Eating for Beauty could be helpful. Read several books and consider what truth speaks to you.
And probably something that motivates you to grow some of your own food so you can have that connection and not be 100% reliant on restaurants and stores. Getting into the habit of growing your own sprouts is a good thing. Even if it is just one little bit every week.
I would highly recommend '80/10/10 diet' by Dr. Doug Graham. the one raw book that has REALLY changed my life and the lives of my friends, family, and people around me. Instead of all the confusion and misguidance of all those other 'beginner' raw books, you get straight to the sweet juice of life, the pure power of what being a human is about. I know people that have hurt themselves following some other raw books, that aren't focused on health, but exploiting the words 'raw food'.
also, 'The Fruit Hunters' by Adam Leith Gollner, a binding filled with amazing adventurous and tragic truths, sure to spark fire and passion for living, exploration, and endless possibilities.
'Four Season Harvest' good guide to growing your food. this is very important as the raw diet thrives on FRESH food, supermarket wont always cut it.
i wish someone would have told me this when i started, i could of avoided all the fat, all the salt, all the unhealthy consumerism that had quickly enveloped the raw movement, these are the things that make you feel bad.

Hi family.
I've been eating 100% raw for the past 40 days. Before that, I was about 70% raw for a few years, and I struggled with bulimia (purging the cooked food that I ate).
No purging, no cooked food for 40 days. My cheeks are slightly puffy ...
im confused. matt monarch swears by regular colonic hydrotherapy. its his no.1 raw tip, didn't think it could be dangerous but now it kind of makes sense. enemas seem much more natural in comparison.
I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....
The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.
