Give it to me Raw

I've have been eating smoothies everyday and loving it, but this week, the joy ended. My husband and I literally took a huge swig of our smoothies, looked at each other and said, "Bleh". It has turned cold and dark here (I live in Sweden)...and a cold smoothie just doesn't cut it. We are at a complete loss of what to eat.

Any suggestions or breakfast ideas for cold, dark mornings?

I posted one called better than starbucks. Any kind of cracker with nut cheese or fruit spread is good. You can make a miso soup and then throw a bunch of vegetables into it. Not really cooked- just tossed with hot water so that it can warm you up. Also Ani Phyo has a video up about donut holes which sounds good. You can make cinnamon roles with nuts, flax, dates and cinnamon rolled with cashew creme..

You can also make a thicker essene bread and use as a bagel and creme cheese- make the cheese from brazil nuts or pine nuts. If ou have a dehdrator it will be warm when you get up. I have also heard of people doing pancakes with flax and bananas, and\or pecans.

I heard about the pancakes too, and promptly forgot it again. Thanks for reminding me. I'll pull out the dehydrator this weekend and see if I can work some magic.

Gabriel Cousens has some nice porridges in his books. they are a fair amount of work, though--soaking the oat groats, buckwheat, etc. I soaked some oats (1c) overnight last week and blended with 2 dates, cinnamon and nutmeg and some of the date soak water. I thought it was the consistency of glue, but it was tasty, warm from the blending and relatively simple.
I still prefer only fruit in the morning even though it was a nice change.

Good idea with the porridge. I'm going to give it a go.

breakfest porage-...........warm ( uncooked ) water, sprouted wheat, half a carrot, garlic, banana, pinch of sea salt & dash of olive oil. Blend it well into porage. that porage in a bowl works great , if dressed up with corn, onion and kelp. Flax seed cracker or essene bread just begs to be added............enjoy.

mhmm! I've been through a similar stage! I really like raw oatmeal (if your into grains!) i soak 1/2 or 1/3 of a cup of organic steel cut oats and a tbsp of unsweetened coconut flakes in some water over night and then when im ready for breakfast i put it in my vitamix and blend it with a ripe banana until its warm :) MMM like coconut cream pie... FOR BREAKFAST! You don't have to eat it warm, its just nice on the colder days :) OR, if your not into coconut, you can substitute coconut for raisins and then blend it with an organic apple until warm and put some cinnamon on top! MMMM :) there are tons of options, but this ones easy to make and you don't need a fancy blender if you dont have one, your smoothie blender will work perfectly! :) all the best :)

I do a really easy breaky each morning for my family, I call it my Raw Bircher Muesli.. I just throw fruit, like pineapple, orange and mango into the blender, then add small amounts of soaked nuts such as almonds or walnuts, some pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, then a little coconut, raw ground vanilla bean and just pulse it till you get a bircher consistancy, not too much you don't want it smooth, but then you may like it smooth, it's up to you how long you blend for.
'so quick and easy and each morning is different depending on the fruit, nuts, seeds or spices I add, sometimes if it's an apple mixture I will add organic cinnamon. They are divine. Left overs are then great for morning tea or lunch if you like. Here's a sample of what they get.. I also add my granola's and walnut mixtures to them ... :)

I've been slicing up some bananas, drizzling them with a little honey and tahini, and then sprinkling coconut flakes over it.
