I've always had some kind of issue going on with my skin, starting with eczema at 2 months old. It's always very fun, and by fun, I don't exactly mean fun, when I discover a new weird thing going on with my skin. Yesterday, it was a cold sore! I've never had one before, so I don't know how to take care of this, or how to laugh about it and not take it too seriously.
Right now, it's a semi-painful blister on my upper lip. I have begun to put tea tree oil on it a few times a day, but have the feeling it needs more care than that. I've been reading that the amino acid Lysine, as well as vitamin C, lemon balm, peppermint (oil or tea-bags), eucalyptus radiata (the natural Vicks equivalent) or crushed salt applied for 30 seconds are helpful remedies. Anyone have experience healing a cold sore quickly? The underlying factor I would say is a question of immunity which is best approached with preventative, lifelong health practices... but right now I need some target action. I've read that it's good to prick it with a pin to drain the fluid. Experience?
I am hypothesizing that this may actually be a detox symptom... as I'm doing a homeopathic detox right now. I noticed little signs of staph on my skin, and this I definitely see as my body releasing that rather than being under siege (because I had a bad staph infection on my skin a few years ago and took antibiotics, so it probably got suppressed).
Anyways, any and all help is appreciated! Thanks
