Give it to me Raw

I've been eating A LOT of fruit lately, sometimes that's all I eat in a day. I used to drink a lot of milk and have never had a cavity or any tooth problems, but my teeth aren't looking too strong the last few days! They even hurt a little bit today when I drank some peppermint tea. Has anyone had a similar experience after going raw? Can someone tell me some good dental health foods? I really don't wanna go back to drinking milk because I actually don't like the taste anymore after going raw. Thanks in advance!

I read The China Study too and changed my diet accordingly--and I still had health problems. He does not address a major root issue of western diseases: a bacteria-poor, yeast-heavy colon! The book is really great in other ways, and I appreciate anyone who shares their experience butting up against the big food industries, but it really isn't a useful tool for healing modern diseases, as I had once thought it was.

I have since found out that the research has been highly disputed, not to mention that the populations studied weren't vegan.

A better book to help you understand the connection between diet and the ecology of the colon and disease is The Body Ecology Diet. You can still be a vegetarian and heal your body. And the only milk allowed is raw keifer, alive and rich with good bacteria and enzymes. Not even close to what Americans, or even T. Colin Cambpell, calls "milk."

That book is on my list.

Have you read "Primal Body - Primal Mind"? Rz? Erin told me about it and I'm reading it now. It's making me re-think some of my long held beliefs and practices concerning diet.

I haven't yet, Tele. Erin highly recommended it to me too. What she told me about it strongly resonated with me, and it also sounds very close to the diet I am following now. I'm glad you mentioned it...I could use another nudge to get a copy.

Hey, PLA :-)

I'm following a candida-fighting, immune-building program from my doctor that is very similar to the B.E.D. I just don't take the time to culture foods (although my husband makes kiefer) as recommended in the B.E.D. I would like to move closer to the B.E.D. over time, but for now I'm already on a very disciplined diet that is doing wonders for me.

Yes, I am eating a lot of raw with a quart of green juice (carrots and beets too, but mostly green), sauerkraut or kimchee, kifer, and two salads per day. I also eat some cooked protein, both animal and vegetable.

No grains (for now, although I may in a couple weeks), no sweeteners except stevia, no vinegar except apple cider, no yeast, no dried fruit.

I have been through different degrees of yeast-fasting phases, during which no fruit was permitted, then some fruits, then most fruits in the later stages.

This diet has saved my life and broken long spells of illness every time I have had the discipline to do it. The first phase of fasting on juice only is very difficult, but the results are utterly profound.

No problem. I am so grateful to the people from GI2MR who shared their journeys with me too.

Let me know how it goes with the B.E.D.

I think most (western) people have candidiasis; "yeastie" experts estimate that 90% of Americans have it. Considering the ecology of our colon and most western diets--including vegan, vegetarian, and fruit-heavy raw--it would be hard not to have it. Fortunately, it's just an imbalance that can shift.

Thank goodness for that!
Not to mention the milk sold in stores isn't really milk. It's been pasteurized, so all the enzymes and nutrition from it is all destroy. If you're going to drink milk buy unpasteurized grass-fed milk.

absolutely. I've read that it's the processing that causes most human health problems related to dairy. If we all had a cow in the backyard we'd be all set! lol : )

yeah I totally would if I could find some. I grew up drinking milk and nothing goes better with a pb&j like milk but I gave it up and feel a hella lot better!

yeah and cows die if they are fed pasteurized milk!! what does that tell ya.

Are you eating mature and ripe fruit?

Be very careful about those who claim that all your minerals are being used up for detox.

I remember hearing Doug Graham in an audio interview say his daughter had a crumbly tooth. He basically just brushed it off because a dentist told him it is normal. This is not normal from an optimal health perspective.
From my viewpoint it looks like nutritional deficiency.

According to LovingRaw(youtube.com/LovingRaw) he also had "translucent" teeth so he ate raw cheese. Im not necessarily recommending anything just telling his story.

Instead of avoiding fruits or taking a supplement, you may wish to try David Wofe's approach to building/restoring calcium. He suggests adding the herbs Horsetail & Nettle. I recently purchased some in my local health food store. One of them has a pleasant (almost) Vanilla flavor. I have a huge sweet tooth and used agave in the tea. Both contain large amounts of magnesium and silicon which converts to calcium in the body. As always, it's a good idea to rinse well and/or brush your teeth after consuming any food.

Hey Ahntara,

Thanks for mentioning some herbal ways to restore teeth and bone. Horsetail and nettle do contain silica which is useful for rebuilding teeth, but for those who are allergic to those herbs, powdered bamboo is highly bio-available and very rich in silica, possibly more so.

Take care,
RawMatt

Hi El-bo, You're absolutely right; sodium is not the problem, but sodium chloride, and inorganic mineral salt which always causes water retention and raises blood pressure. We don't need any of that.
