Give it to me Raw

Why is it that sometimes when I consume some tropical fruits, I find them disgusting to consume on their own? Take ripe mango for example. I sliced into one yesterday and ate it "mono" style - plain old ripe mango. It just slid around in my mouth like the feeling I used to have eating sushi. Star fruit in all their interesting configuration turn me off. Papaya is strange too because I don't know what to do with the silly seeds. Though I am good with the textures of avocado and banana. Any suggestions on how to eat a ripe Mango and other wet palatable fruit?

My favorite thing to do with ripe mango is to make a simple salsa: mango, tomato, red onion, chives, an oil of your choice, some freshly ground black pepper, celtic sea salt, maybe a little cilantro and pineapple (jalapeno if you like it more spicy) and there you go! As for papaya, the best thing I can tell you is to try it with pomegranate, which is how I love to eat it. As for the papaya seeds, there are plenty of things you can do with them but I am not yet cool enough to know what they are :) Keep trying new things!

Another method of consuming a VERY ripe mango involves minimal knife work - just start mushing it up in the skin, make it all squelchy in it's own skin, then you either bite or cut a small whole at the end of the mango and suck - you have instant freshly squeezed mono mango smoothie, no blender required.

Ive found that the seeds of papaya have a peppery taste when eaten, so Im thinking of grinding them and using them as a spice. I love papaya bended with banana, pineapple, mango and coconut in a smoothie. Its awesome.

The other thing you might find as you continue on your raw journey is that your food preferences shift MARKEDLY. Eg, right now, mangoes=yech. A few months down the track, they might be all you feel like eating.

It's pretty common, as your body adjusts, for your preferences to shift too.

Me, I just shove mangoes in a fruit salad - they add a nice level of 'wetness' to the salad - almost like a sauce. That works a treat! :)

Blend your mango or papaya w/ banana; add some spices ~ potentially cardamom OR, nutmeg and cinnamon OR, maybe pumpkin pie spice and make it into a "pudding". The texture changes.

I understand the texture thing. I could never eat bananas alone as a child. When I moved to Ca., avos were the WORST! Now, I can consume them all. I love the slippery feel of a ripe, juicy mango sliding down my throat. I don't eat papaya alone still though.

This might not be right according to food combining rules -- BUT, blending mango with avocado creates a thoroughly creamy luscious "mousse." This combo does not give me any digestion problems. It's more of an occasional treat.

That looks really good. I should make more elaborate desserts, I tend to keep it simple.

Only because Suvine asked me to. I have almost no idea what qualifies as soft rock, but if most of the music here is any indication, that's probably because I don't actually like soft rock. For the most part. Does Queen qualify as soft rock? I ha...

I just looked up the Magic Bullet on youtube and it had a ton of bad reviews lol. I think I'll save up a little more and get a blender/food processor combo. Is 750 watts good? I have one already I got from my Granddad and it's really old and 600 ...
