He said eating to many greens is dangerous and unhealthy. He was looking to the side panel of the wheat grass and said look you have almost a full days worth of vitamin K. If you eat to many greens your gonna overdose on vitamins. I was like are you kidding me. Plus he claimed that there are toxn in plants that eating to much of them could harm us. He is talking about how plants create poisons to fight predators. What would you answer if your boss challenged you with these comments on greens telling you could overdose on vitamins from veggies.
oh and he said that I should live a little and enjoy life not be so stuck on eating so right all the time. He said you really can't enjoy that wheat grass. I told him that I really do like it. He did not believe me. I said nothing more because I work for him. I don't want conflict.
serious answer - i've stopped attempting to explain my eating style to people. most aren't open to hear what i have to say and just want a confrontation and to argue. so i usually just nod my head and move on.
ditto. I have no interest in convincing challengers that my diet is anything other than my choice.
However, when people ask me sincere questions, I do my best to explain my reasons. I never tell anyone they should do what I do. I only tell them it works or makes sense for me. I love to be helpful to those who value it.
It's a much more peaceful feeling to help those who ask..... than to convince those who challenge. I can't devote meaningful attention or energy to negativity. If I have to, I'll even laugh at my own diet to get annoying co-workers to go away. lol....seriously.
People are afraid of what is different and if you are on a healthy track, it makes them take a look at their own eating habits and get accountable. I know it can get tricky with the boss man and those lines of respect. I guess to keep it neutral and avoid further conflict, I would probably say something like "Thanks for your concern, but this is what works for me." You know your truth. But how uncomfortable!!!! Work can be a tricky place. I had to deal with mad flack just to get some salads and veggies at the work holiday party. Good luck, Rain!
thanks ... Yeah I try to keep it to myself. I just can't help when I am cornered in the kitchen and then trying to be disproved. What answer would you give on eating to much veggies could be dangerous would it be because your body is able to regulate what it needs from food as apposed from a supplement?
I would say that sounds about right. How could anyone argue that whole, pure, natural food is bad for you? It just seems to me that at some point, if the other party is not going to have a true, intelligent conversation with you, then you will be speaking on deaf ears. I have recommended this video to a few folks, but you should check Dhrumil's video on "Food, Love, and Acceptance". I first saw it when I came home from a very trying Thanksgiving Holiday with the fam. This video really helped me and lead me to this site. Tell me what you think. I think you can find it on Dhru's page and I know for sure it is on We Like It Raw. You know we got you, Rain, and support you on your journey and challenges.
that's the exact scenario that i face all the time. people feel the need to corner you or be confrontational. starting to think it's just them projecting their own insecurities. no need to bring that negativity into your life. bunch of haters.

I'd tell him to keep his mitts off my food and mind his own business. what you choose to consume is just that, your choice... and if he thinks he's so entitled to tell people what to do with their body maybe he should go seek out the smokers, foremost. OR, maybe he should become a certified diet consultant... and even then, ASK you if you'd like to hear some advice.
About the toxins: V. Boutenko said in the rawkathon interview that she is currently writing a new book about (doh) green smoothies etc. and she discovered that you need to at least rotate your greens. This is because according to her, each green contains homeopathic amounts of toxins that can cause this or that symptom over time. This is *maybe* why we end up getting tired of one green and feel drawn to another over time.
However, if you stick to a type of green even if you turned to dislike it and only because you think "I feel I need to eat it for my health", then you may have actually had enough of it for a while.
I have no real source for this except for the interview so it's not much more than a theory before we see the actual "proof" further elaborated in the book I guess.
What your boss means sounds the same somehow but in an extreme way.
Thanks! I remember this tidbit the most out of all the audio files because of my little "dandelion problem" hehe...I tend to juice dandelion and drink up no matter if I feel like it or not.
So somehow her message was an eye opener. Dandelion technically may be totally packed with all nutrients, but it's not the best thing to ALWAYS eat / juice just that...have to remind myself of it all the time.
Wikipedia says there are over 7,500 different apple varieties...

Isn't the panda gorgeous? And yes it really is eating an apple.
I can't take credit for the picture though. It comes from Flickr and was taken by Swamibu.

C. B. Alien Worshipper I have an impersonator following me around pretending to be me. hope he won't give me a bad rap.
I love apples too! I made a "killer-Raw-Apple-Pie" last week, with different kind of apples in it. It was so good I can't stop thinking about it. The panda-bear in the pic is soooo cute! Did you take the picture yourself?
