She has a juicer that hasn't been broken in yet, so i'm going over on Frid to break it in.
Do any of you have any great simple juice recipes that you'd like to share?
yup, I just LOVE pineapple juice on its own, it is delicious.
Another great tip is to get your oranges, carefully cut the orange part of the peel off but leave all the white pith on - this is where the high concentration of vitamin c and all the good stuff actually is - then chop and put through the juicer like you would an apple. You get really lovely creamy and extremely nutritious orange juice than way.
Thats nice of you to do that! I'm sorry she couldn't have broken the juicer in sooner! I think watermelon and mint would be nice with a little squirt of lime!
What they all said. Pink Lady Apples recipe sounds a lot like mine. ONly I add tons of greens, but start her off with no greens or only a few leaves of spinach, then work it up. Also, fresh grapefruit juice is to die for in my opinion, if she likes grapefruit, of course.
So you're raw, or high raw, and your BFF is obese? That can't be easy. How are you feeling about her choice to have the surgery? (not that its any of my business)
Hi SV
She and I have been friends for over 20 years she's my Ace Boon Coon; She's been battling the bulge for over 20years; several diets ect. We use to workout together when we both lived in Austin, TX rain, sleet or snow. We both live in Houston, TX now and since she's been here she hasn't been able to get a grasp on the whole weight loss thing. The surgery was the very last resort for her and its only a tool to accomplish what she want weight wise, she has to do the hard work to keep the weight off.
Because of her family history of heart disease and other ailments she was a good candidate for the surgery. She doesn't have any type of heart disease's, high blood pressure, diabetes are anything and if you saw her you wouldn't say she was obese she's 5' 11 and weighs about 230.
To finally answer your question, I'm not 100% raw just yet and even if I were it wouldn't bother me(i would hope not KWIM) because she truly is my best friend. In the past I've often tried to encourage and share with her what I've learned and continue to learn about health and so forth. But as you know its hard to make changes. Her husband (my cousin)on the other hand is athletic always has been. Before she had the surgery she had to go through intense therapy as well as a dietician to discuss her relationship with food.
Thanks so much for sharing! If you don't mind my asking, and I don't mean it to sound terrible pls understand, but if you & her hub are health-concerned & athletic, and she used to work out, why did she chose surgery vs diet & exercise? Is she going thru a bad time mentally? Did she have some physical issue which prevented her from exercising?
Again, just curious, and coming from a place of wanting to know & understand... I appreciate you being open.
