Give it to me Raw

A small observation:

In my opinion, one’s mindset and emotions are the most important factors and indicators that can predict/determine one’s health. Congruence of thought, word, and deed are essential to being healthy; this practice is more important than the matter that enters one’s mouth.

We have all taken a big leap by becoming raw foodists. By eliminating many foods from our diets, we have already had great success on this path, and continued evolution is inevitable and (for me) anxiously anticipated. Many people lately have been posting different messages on the site, such as, “fruit is bad for you,” “why low fat is the way to go,” “long term vegans are deficient,” or “cacao is bad for you,” etc. However we fail to realize that each of us, inevitably, will fall under one of the categories of people who consume some of these foods, and, unless we have completely unbroken emotional poise, a weakening of the congruence of our thought, word, and deed is inevitable. Regardless of the diet we’re on, continuous reinforcement that “the way I’m eating right now is the best thing I could be doing for my body,” is an extremely powerful practice, and strengthens our mental and physical health. Anytime we come on giveittomeraw and see yet another post about, “the food you’re eating is bad for you,” it can become harder and harder for this statement to retain its power and validity in our minds.

It’s undeniable: some of us love fruit and 80/10/10, some of us love low-glycemic raw eating, some of us love cacao, some of us love raw animal products, and some of us don’t need food at all! And instead of constantly trying to convert others towards one’s way of eating, I believe it would be more beneficial for us to honor our fellow raw foodist friends and their independence and right to choose just how they’d like to eat raw, specifically so we can preserve one another’s crucial space of positive affirmation about one’s diet. And let’s be completely honest here: isn’t it awesome? There are so many ways to do it, so many ways to be successful on the raw diet, that one couldn’t possibly get bored, couldn’t possibly claim “it’s just too monotonous,” as the combinations and options are endless. If there were only one way, I think we might not be as large of a community as we have grown to become.

If the debates continue, then at least I hope everyone can keep this mantra in their minds:
“The way I’m eating right now is the best way I could possibly eat to benefit my body.”
I believe that if you stick to this and ignore ideas that contradict it, your health, without changing what you put in your mouth, will undeniably improve. And it applies to all diets, so even if you do go from a cacao-monster to an 80/10/10er to a Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine Phase 1-eater to a Primal Dieter back to a cooked fooder all in the same week, the energy surrounding your mental state and your food will be harmonious – something way more powerful than physical matter.

Wishing you all unity of thought, word, and deed.

Thank you so much for posting this!!

I love that mantra! I'm going to start using it.

I think we should all be SO proud of each other for just having the awareness and self-love to pursue this path, and what makes humans beautiful is that each one of us does make our own path, and if we are guided by the overarching energy of love, then there's no way our path could be "wrong" or defected in any way.

we're beautiful people :)
all of us, no matter what we're putting in our body.
everything starts with love

totally agree with this...for a while my mind was having so much internal dialouge that i couldn't even shop at farmers markets (like this: 'well is that farmer REALLY using organic practices? is this farmer raw? no carrots for me, thats a root vegetable, why are those people eating tamales, dont they know theyre slowly killing themselves?! today i will just buy apples since that is what i should do...a monodiet...yes...but then apples have a high glycemic range...') and on it went.

the best thing i do now is to 'bless' everything...such a load off my shoulders!...whatever food i have at that moment i bless it and enjoy it fully. and then i say a silent thanks and move on (usually i forget about what i just ate instead of what that meal will do to me later-post eating regret, what an idea!). this includes other people. to see people eating it brings a smile to my face because they're happy in that moment-by themselves or with others. with whatever they're eating...

im done being hardcore about it. funny thats how i started too-no this, no that, only this, only that...cooked food is evil (remember that one?)...and i've done the whole breadth of it too for long stretches, juice feasting, water only, inedia, sunviewing...i've learned through all of it that if you don't come about it with with joy you're holding on to tight. and it will bite you in the assparagus. and you start to think that counting calories and sugars, how much to eat and if you shouldn't, raw, organic, what have you...sorta dissapates the whole idea and experience of food itself.

we sometimes say we shouldn't eat from a box, but when we pick apart our food we're doing the thing we say we shouldn't do-put it in a 'box'...

yes its important to find and enjoy the best food possible grown and eaten with love...just think about the thoughts you send out...

It's not just food and thoughts. EMF's, mainly cell phones will create an acidic environment. It's so unnatural. Keep them off folks! If it's not an emergency you really don't need it. Put some quartz or amethyst at the base of your monitor to absorb EMF's. If you use a laptop buy a diode from www.cellphoneguardian.com. We have them on our phones (I have a teenager if that explains the cell phone!) and I wear one in a pocket all the time. Your neighbor's (hopefully you don't own one!) large screen TV will radiate through the walls and into your home stressing your body and the scary part is that you will not feel it!!! At least most people won't feel it. Once the damage is done you'll be a lot more sensitive though. Been there, done that.

Amalgam fillings create little antennae for EMF's. Get the metals out if you want to be alkaline and happy!

i have to do something about the cell phone. but i felt an immediate clearance of energy right when i shifted the tv from my floor. that was a couple of years ago and am so grateful to that!
i really have to do something with EMF protection. hope someday i can do that soon! thank you!

Hey Spencer, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate this post. It's sort of ironic how we all come to this way of eating seeking greater health and wellbeing, yet as we learn more and more conflicting diet information we end up stressing ourselves out over everything we put in our mouths. Surely the stress causes a large degree of toxicity. You're right - we're each doing the best possible thing we can for ourselves at each moment, and just BEING on the journey is the key. I really felt like your post came at a crucial time for me, and I will definitely make use of your insightful mantra.

I agree totally, but would also include the cooked food category into this. We're all brothers and should love and respect each other accordingly. Regardless of our petty differences.

Manuel,

Thank you for pointing that out. Definitely; cooked, raw, whatever, we're all in this together.
