I have done it once for 40 days...it was tough, as I was surrounded with raw food delicacies ...worked at a raw food restaurant. But I made it. Around the 25th day or so, I started to have slight lightheaded feelings, a bit of hallucinations, and on the last week, I was having weird sensations: for example, I felt I was shrinking, and curling up. I tried not to think about it too much, just kept working, resting when I felt tired. The weird feeling never away, all the way until I stopped the cleanse and broke it with orange juice, then sliced cucumbers. Was it worth it? It was a very amazing experience...overcoming power struggles with food addictions (raw or cooked, if overeating is a problem)..
I have done several many 10 day cleanses, always with maple syrup and lemon.
I also have a couple of airflight attendants that successfully used the master cleanse for losing weight, and get back in control with food issues. One of the girl fell back into her binge, but the other one came out shining...and she is still shining.

I have not done it with maple syrup. Could you tell me what the advantages are? I usually use raw (thick, not syrupy) honey when I do mine. I am looking to do another one soon, and I am curious about the maple syrup thing :-)
i did one for twelve days last october. then did a sweat lodge. great experience in relating to food in general and the habits around eating. and my energy was good. i was running trails eight days into it. lost a little energy after that.
I was cooked vegan when I did the MC for 5 days. It made me think about food non-stop and feel faint. Being raw and doing cardio for 5 days made me lose more weight than the MC ever did.
Yep, this is probably what I'll do to lose the winter weight, combine my raw with some cardio. I think the extra flab will just melt away. Raw and exercise usually does that to me.

I have done 2 of them, once in December of 2007 and the second one in June of 2008. Both times I used lemons (or limes) mixed with raw honey, and occasionally sea salt and cayenne pepper.
The first one was 6 days, and the second one was 5 days. Very powerful, as it reminded me that I do not necessarily need food to survive.
nice ian.
i read the master cleanse book and stanley boroughs doesn't recommend honey but i'm sure it gets the job done. I realized just how addicted to food i was.

i do yoga, but not regularly, and my flexibility isnt that great.
my breathing capacity is great, and thats the only thing good.
things that have actually worked for me:
Valerian root for tea - very calming...
Lemon juice, sliced lemon peel, lemon grass or lemon verbina, raw honey, star anise (optional), maybe some ginger, hot water (let it all infuse together for a while) ...
oh yeah there were like 3 judges who really eager to find mistakes in my asanas and other yoga practices that they asked me to perform :)
But i am lucky hahahaha
