I have been raw for just over 13 months and was 811 between January and Sept/August. I went to see my dentist today and she said she has never seen such bad deterioration in such a short space of time and if I don't sort it now they will have to be capped!!! My teeth have had a rough time of it lately (I caused so much damage with a tongue stud) cracked teeth, root canal and two porcelain crowns. My enamel has never been an issue until now.
It's easy to blame the high fruit diet, which I have now moved away from. I eat very simply now.
Absolutely. I started juicing it with my standard juice each morning. Also, I use that for my sauerkraut. I'm looking for calcium wherever I can find it ;-)
T, you still eating it each day?

I love chinese cabbage!!! Is it high in calcium? In comparison to spinach? PLA I will try the tea tree oil. I have always juiced cukes because sometimes in the UK they just taste awful.
Of all the vegetables, chinese cabbage, has the highest percentage of absorbable calcium than other vegetables. Then comes kale. Spinach has a lot of calcium but it isn't absorbable because of the oxalic acid that it contains. Therefore, chinese (napa) cabbage and kale would be better choices.
Although, I did hear Brian Clement state that New Zealand spinach does not have as much oxalic acid as the "standard" spinach. He stated it had highly absorbably calcium.
Thank you everyone! All great suggestions, especially the info about Chinese Cabbage having the highest % of absorable calcium. I never knew that. If I can't find it, I guess I'll keep with kale. I'll also try the tea tree oil as well, I'd like to be able to enjoy fruits without it killing me with each bite!
Stefani and Lady. Here is some other information for you.
Good plant sources of calcium
- Chinese cabbage (Napa cabbage)—Best source, doesn’t contain oxalic acid
- Bok choy – cousin of cabbage (no oxalic acid)
- Kale—cousin of cabbage (contains oxalic acid)
- Broccoli
- Sesame Seeds—hulled—have to be soaked
- Endive
- Kelp (Kombu)—rinse to remove excess salt
Hey, Steph, my dentist botched my crown. In taking off the temporary crown, which he made too tight, his assistant, tugged and tugged to get the temp crown off. In so doing, I am convinced she hurt the root of the tooth, and after they put the crown ("permanent") one on, that tooth was sensitive to heat and cold. After months of this, my dentist (taking no responsibility of course) suggested a root canal, which I did not get.
Meanwhile, I went raw life and in a few months no problo with the tooth.
