I have been raw for just over 13 months and was 811 between January and Sept/August. I went to see my dentist today and she said she has never seen such bad deterioration in such a short space of time and if I don't sort it now they will have to be capped!!! My teeth have had a rough time of it lately (I caused so much damage with a tongue stud) cracked teeth, root canal and two porcelain crowns. My enamel has never been an issue until now.
It's easy to blame the high fruit diet, which I have now moved away from. I eat very simply now.
hardcore sister. Your fearlessness! I think I might try it, but would need to be challenged / encouraged by watching someone else first. (maybe a few glasses of wine too and some Demerol : )
Thanks. I felt really hardcore cracking the bones open with a huge rock. Why fear? You are eating what nature provides. I might have been mildly drunk on kombucha at the time though. I've been drinking a ton of the stuff now that I brew my own.

What's the difference? In nature animals are killed and eaten by the millions every day. Bambi can be seen as beautiful and as food. A skilled hunter's "clean kill" can be seen as beautiful.
Of course it doesn't fit your current plan, or even my plan, but shouldn't we be thankful that we are diverse in our lifestyles and eating habits?

No offence to your diet or lifestyle, but that sounds pretty gross! I wonder how it would be good for tooth enamel? There are tones of mineral in the marrow(blood cells are produce). Why do you think old folk remedies for being sick has been Chicken soup?
I know how you feel, not because I've been eating so much fruit (not there just yet), but because I was born with no enamel. From what my mother tells me, it hurt me to eat EVERYTHING; hot, cold, room temp., you name it. Today, the enamel on my teeth isn't the best and I have many fillings (a couple of teeth have a couple of fillings each), but my teeth at least LOOK pretty. It does hurt to eat fruits and veggies that are cold, which is one of the reasons I'm having a hard time switching to RAW. Smoothies are the only alternative I can think of since I can maneuver it in my mouth without it completely touching my teeth. Not sure of other alternatives, but it has made my switch to RAW difficult because, unforunately, I associate things like fruits and veggies with pain.
Stefani, I know what you mean. Someone's teeth can look pretty but not necessarily be healthy ;-)
I went through some major tooth issues last year and had to resort to drinking green smoothies throughout the day. If you are going to do fruit smoothies I suggest you at least add some romaine lettuce or other greens such as kale or spinach in them. Foods high in silica, such as cucumbers, are great for helping to heal teeth.
I have also found that if I put a couple of drops of tea tree oil on my toothbrush it really helps with tooth sensitivity. I haven't found anything else that helps me with that.

You're absolutely right; sodium is not the problem, but sodium chloride, and inorganic mineral salt which always causes water retention and raises blood pressure. We don't need any of that.
